CHR in South Jersey

We don't really have a CHR covering South Jersey in the Atlantic City Area. All we have is Q 107 and that's the lower half, we need a CHR for Monmouth,Ocean,Atlantic Counties. They did have B 98.5 which had a bad signal. 94.5 PST comes in mostly there. Z100 is unlistenable because of WJRZ. You can try for Q 102 but it might not work.

Z88.9 covers central/southern Monmouth and western Ocean counties well, but drops out towards A.C. 95.1 WAYV claims to be a CHR but it is a hot AC. 99.3 The Buzz is probably the closest you get to a CHR, but it's a Rhythmic.

Sojo seems pretty chr'ish to me lately...tonight I heard "shut up and drive", "before he cheats", "who knew", "run it", "whine up", that delila song...

Z-88.9 is completely unlistenable in central or southern Monmouth. As for a CHR, I definitely agree south jersey. is lacking, bigggg time. It's the summer time and what station's gonna cover the clubs in Seaside or other hotspots? B-98.5 used to. KTU made its way towards Seaside (let's see how often this happens now that they're not the KTU we all used to know). Z100 can't reach most of Ocean Co. because of JRZ. Q102's somewhat clear south of Toms River and WAYV isn't a true CHR. So... what happens to the South Jersey residents? another Kountry station, so the drunken cowboy can cry into his bottle of JD. SOJO's the south Jersey version of The Point. It's all either bland non CHR or good/decent stations, too distant, to blanket the shore. I say bring back the B and throw it on 105.7...

CHR in Monmouth County?

Now that you've mentioned CHR in Monmouth County, this spurred me to post since I've been noticing this for a while...94-3 The Point (WJLK) has been slowly adding more "top 40" songs into their playlist lately. I can't remember the actual names of the songs nor can I look them up on yes.com (for some reason WJLK is not listed there), so I can't give examples of the songs I'm hearing. But I do know that they are not your typical Hot AC songs...they are more dance/rhythmic/bubble gum pop songs you would hear on Z100, Q102, or KTU. It seems as though The Point is making a slight musical shift towards CHR lately, especially since the area lacks a local CHR station. Has anybody else noticed this? Can you back me up with some examples?

the PST on 94.5 barely makes a dent now in ocean county let alone AC. What the Jersey Shore needs is a bigger version of z-88.9, the beat of the beach... or bring back the B.

94.5 PST covers Ocean County pretty well, except near the Monmouth border where WJLK-FM interferes.

Q102 also covers most of Ocean County and most of Atlantic County (excluding Atlantic City).

Z88.9 doesn't even cover all of Burlington County, let alone being a factor in Ocean & Atlantic. Burlington County's WXXY at 88.7 and Atlantic City's WAJM at 88.9 tear them up badly in spots. Aside from the Rt. 72 corridor Z88.9 is a non-factor.

I think that Z100's signal does go as far as Cranford,NJ, Clark,NJ, I know that PST's signal starts around Freehold, the Mercer County sign, I think WAYV starts at about like in Jackson,NJ or so. So like the Jersey shore I guess is alright. Q 102 does come in more towards the center of the state. So I guess im contradicting myself. We do kind of have a CHR. made up of multiple stations. oh well.

The WAYV signal comes nowhere near Jackson. It would be nice if it did, but on a normal day you can start to catch it about halfway down route 539.

I'm a bit confused about your Z100 statement.... Z100 is a NY station. Cranford and Clark are in nothern Middlesex on the Union Co. border. Z100 has no problem in that area. Z100 goes as far south as Brick/Point Pleasant before getting pretty choppy. Same goes when you're heading towards Freehold, with 100.3 the beat, beating it up. WAYV is odd.. I've gotten them clear many of times near the GSP exit 100's in Neptune, but towards western Monmouth, forget it. I'm usually pulling in ZZO from Allentown. Regarding Q102, for some reason, I get it on most of my radios at home, here in Old Bridge. Q102 though, is normally good throughout central Jersey.

While we're on this sorta subject.... I've noticed lately a station, known for upping their wattage just a bit too much illegally, return back to the airwaves, distorted and dull as hell... I'm picking it up in more places lately than I should. (no, not during trop either) I'm referring to still, the greatest waste of radio. 89.3 WDDM and their quiet return to the radio. I suspect they tweaked their transmitter yet again. Meanwhile, I wonder when they're going to advise the FCC that they're back up and running again.

88.9 gets cut off at the last toll booth going into AC due to AC high school's station. Besides that it covers most of south jersey.

I just looked over the Playlist of WAYV it was officially Tagged a Hot AC

99.3 the Buzz is more Urban than Rhythmic

Other than "Lean like a cholo" and "Rehab" the playlist is all Urban.
