Is there ANY hope for a Top 40 station to come to San Francisco anytime soon? Could Wild just adjust its playlist to add more rock tracks & more pop tracks like Hinder, John Mayer, Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco, etc.
So which station in Frisco plays Beyonce, The Fray, Akon, My Chemical Romance, Cascada, Nickleback, Ludacris, Evanescence, Christina Aguilera, All American Rejects, Nelly Furtado, Snow Patrol, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and Fallout Boy? There only station in the Bay area that plays all the hits is KOHL 89.3 FM out of Fremont, which sadly has a small transmitter. Had they been given full power for the entire Bay area that'd be one thing, but this IS a viable format hole.
If you want your CHR/Pop, try XM radio's 20on20 Channel.
They play GREAT HIT Music without the commercials!!!!
It's the closest thing to true CHR/Pop Radio in San Francisco!
Actually, if you've got XM you've got THREE CHR/Pop stations. 20 on 20 isn't the closest to a true CHR of the three - they're all about the same. You've got Kiss XM with commercials, which sounds like some of the country's Kiss FM stations, and you've got the Hitlist which sounds like a good number of CHRs as well.
On top of that you've got U-Pop which is an international CHR playing primarily hits in English that are charting in the UK or the rest of Europe.
Yes.....or there's KYLD who played Panic At The Disco today. Although they are CHR/Rhythmic they certainly are leaning a bit more Pop these days. If you take a look here:
I seriously doubt it; CHR/Pop radio has become even MORE rhythmic/rap heavy since KZQZ flopped, and launching one ina city with two CHR/Rhythmic powerhouses like KMEL & KYLD wouldn't make sense.
You can also toss in several launchings of CHR/Pop stations over the past decade (including markets such as Chicago & Harrisburg, PA) which haven't worked out either as more reasons for the corporate beancounters at CC/CBS NOT to try to launch another one anytime soon.
