Hmm.. Interesting.. Heard this rumor again from someone "in the business" again yesterday..
Seems like a bit of a bad move though given Sunny 102 already does very successful "Whatever" Weekends and Fresno's Jack Station comes in pretty well into the City of Modesto..
The Modesto Stockton market desperately needs a Rock Station.. Maybe 104.1 THE HAWK should tweak to an "Everything that Rocks" type Format?

It is interesting, and I guess quite possible. KWIN has been around on 98.3 for awhile now, but maybe they figure there is too much conflict with their CHR KHOP also in Modesto.
Maybe KHOP and KHKK should swap frequencies! How about 95-1 The Hawk and then KHOP renamed either FM104 or the old "Stereo 104", with it's night show renamed TRZ(Total Request Zone.) Just a thought!

Are you sure Fresno's Jack station comes in "pretty well" in Modesto? That's a 2,400 watt stick from about 90 miles away. I haven't listened to that frequency myself in Modesto, but I'd be surprised if it's even a tolerable quality.

I wouldn't count on it. Citadel tried Rock, and it didn't sell. Clear Channel tried Rock, and it didn't sell. The Hawk is a money maker. I doubt any younger skewing movements would be made.

it comes in clear where I live in Turlock and on the way up to Riverbank (with interference by Salida's LP 106.1 station) on my work commute.. Too bad La Rue couldn't swipe 107.3 KSTN with 1420 KSTN (which has the closest to a Jack Format in this market).. but 107.3 does pretty well.. so don't see that happening anytime soon..Are you sure Fresno's Jack station comes in "pretty well" in Modesto? There definitely seems to be a hole for rock especially given the last ratings book and the fact that out of town signal, KBRE out of Merced got a 1.5 share in the Modesto book.
