- WHTZ "Z100" New York
- KKHH "Hot 95-7" Houston
- KBKS "106.1 Kiss FM" Seattle
- WXKS "Kiss 108" Boston
- WVAQ "102 WVAQ" Morgantown, WV
- KKOB "93-3 KOB FM" Albuquerque
- WDOD "96-5 The Mountain" Chattanooga, TN
- WSPK "K104" Poughkeepsie, NY
- WXLK "K92" Roanoke, VA
And if we are going international, I'd also include;
- 95.8 Capital FM - London, UK
- BBC Radio 1 - UK
- Galaxy - network of stations in UK
Those would be at the tops of my short list of favorite CHR's. And yes, they are quite different musically, but for me it's all about the production and "sound" of the station. (Anyone can program a generic, lifeless jukebox). Having grown up on CHR in the 80's, I still like a really "slick" and heavily produced station with fun sweepers and lots of jingles. And all of the above stations have great production and sound. Z100 and Hot 95-7 are full of energy and fun. WVAQ is a great sounding small market station with great sweepers from Pat Garrett and good jingles. KKOB has a unique sound and unique imaging and slogan. And WDOD is sounding really great for a new CHR (especially the killer "Hallam FM" jingles from ReelWorld that sound awesome on the station). And K104 WSPK is using Mark Driscoll for voiceovers; enough said; he is the "GOD" of station voices in my book and I love hearing him on a CHR again. Also, Capital FM, and BBC Radio 1 are always stellar examples of great CHR's, and Galaxy is coming on strong now as well.
Overall, I'd say Z100 New York and 95.8 Capital FM are always at the top of my list of favorites. (My least favorite CHR's would be the boring Clear Channel, "less is more" stations that don't use jingles and have average "listener" type voiceovers for their sweepers; like Hot 99.5 D.C. and Channel 95.5 Detroit. Sure musically, they are ok, but production-wise they bore me to tears).
