CHR Stations with No Mixshow?

I don't think my local CHR, WWST Star 102.1 in Knoxville has a mix show. (I may be wrong, but haven't heard one outside of the mixes on Open House Party on weekends). They do have mix shows on their sister rhythmic CHR, Hot 104.5 though.

Y101 Jackson doesn't have one. They used to until a couple of years ago, when they picked up Saturday Night Online. Correct me if I'm wrong, but 107.5 the River in Nashville doesn't have one either, outside of Saturday Night Online.

Spokane has 2 rhythmics, KEZE Hot 96.9 and KGZG 104.5 Jamz. KIXZ and KZBD are both CHR Pop stations. KEZE has a mix show on weeknights at 9 P.M. Outside of that, and Saturday Night Online, which is the most interesting thing on the dial on Saturday nights over there, there doesn't seem to be any mix shows. KIXZ is a CC Premium Choice CHR with very boring imaging and little local personality.

Indianapolis is probably one of the bigger cities that have a terrible selection of mixshows. Wnou (Radio Now) does a 1.5 hour mix show on friday and saturday night that starts at midnight. Wzpl is the other CHR and it does not do a mixshow at all. I think Indianapolis could use a better CHR station that does a mixshow or the ones here need to step their game up!

It's unlikely WFAV Kankakee, IL has one either. Outside of the weekday morning show, the station is jockless. So this station is run on the cheap, & probably good reason, as this station serves the Kankakee/Watseka areas of Illinois, & outside of the Chicago radio market.

I don't think KLIF i93.3 in Dallas/Fort Worth has a mix show...at least to my knowledge. Every time I tune in, it's a steady stream of music from beginning to end of each song...and of course, commercial breaks.

Come to think of it, there are a number of CHRs I can think of that do not have a mix show. I think most of the stations carrying Open House Party don't have mix shows, KRSQ and KJYO being the exceptions, and most of the Premium Choice CHRs launched by CC over the past couple of years. WKSE wasn't meant to be in the above list of CHRs not having a mix show since they only carry the Sunday addition of OHP.

It's not really a big deal. KIIS does a great mixshow on the weekends and the Rhythmic's stations cover the rest KPWR KCAQ and KGGI. Even the Hispanic Rhythmic's KXOL and KXOS.

How many women truly LIKE hearing mixshows? The core audience comes to the radio station to hear their favorite songs. When you mess with their favorite songs - i.e., remixes, only playing a couple of hooks and verses, etc - you upset them and they tune out. There is more to be lost by running mixes in long form than there is to be gained.

I should revise my list I posted a while ago. I don't think many CHRs that run OHP have a mix show, but there are a number that do. This doesn't count the couple Hot ACs that run the show or the stations that only carry the show one of the two nights. The exceptions are KJYO, KTXY, KMXV, KRSQ, KKCT, and KSYN are the stations I think are the exception to this rule. Although WZYP only carries the show on Saturdays, I would find it hard to believe that they would have a mix show. That's pretty sad if you think about it, there are no mix shows in either Huntsville or the Quad Cities.
