There certainly were, especially 15-20 years ago. However, the audience has largely forced these stations to either add rhythmic product or change formats altogether. These are radio stations thst try hard to not go too AC sounding and not too rhythmic.
These are radio stations thst try hard to not go too AC sounding and not too rhythmic. Historically have many CHRs pursued this sound, gravitating towards pure pop that is an uptempo sound?
I think of bright as different than pure Hot AC product though in that it similarly tries to avoid "heavier" sounding songs along with heavier rhythmic, but not sure. @K.M. Richards To your quote too, but unsure if I am defining it correctly. There certainly were, especially 15-20 years ago. That's the formula that allows WGXR to thrive as a Hot AC here in Hanover-Lebanon-White River Junction. Not only no CHR competition, but no urban/hip-hop competition either. If you're not using streaming media or satellite radio and you live up here, you won't hear some major national hits at all.I always thought that bright CHR without the Rock/Rap edges was Hot AC.
Hot ACs can often slip past the general public in the guise of a CHR ("Today's Best Music"), usually in areas with no bona fide CHR competitors.. They're just, well, wimpier musically.
Hot AC is a bit more on the rock/AC side when it comes to gold. These are kind of stations with "pure pop" leans.I always thought that bright CHR without the Rock/Rap edges was Hot AC.
