The other night I'm at Benihana with some friends and amongst the group of people across from us one guy says he's a sales rep for The Peak. This guy is just hammered drunk and proceeds to tell his friends that at the end of their contract Chris and Amy are out. Amy is going to do mornings at 103.9 and Dave Pratt will take over mornings on Peak.
 
I was talking with my bookie about taking odds on when KFYI would go to FM and just when he started to give me the over / under some lush walks in and repeats this same rumor. This guy then invited me over to his new house in Scottsdale for a BBQ. To my surprise, Bill Heywood was grilling pork chops and Al McCoy was mixing rum punch and mojitos. Beth McDonald dropped by and said Barry Young was bringing Tostitos and Michelob Ultra and could we please make sure the driveway had space for Steve Goddard's van? What a night!
 
Don't get me wrong i liked the mayor while he was in kupd and the zone,but please tell me it is all a bad dream.The peak would be foolish to drop Chris and Amy.
 
I ran into a drunk at Filiberto's who works for Univision and he said that Pratt was taking Piolín's morning shift on 105.9.
 
I heard Pratt once shot a man, just for snoring.

Well I'm not a sales guy for the Peak, I'm not at Benihana, but I am hammered drunk, and apparently that lends some credence to what I am about to say...

If Chris & Amy's contract is not renewed, it won't be because Pratt is waiting in the wings. It will be because TMISU, like a lot of other companies, are slowly realizing that high dollar morning shows are increasingly irrelevant.

Pratt is the highest dollar morning show in the market by a long shot, and I'd hazard a guess that even he realizes that he's priced himself out of the market. Or more to the point, the market no longer exists.

I think the market no longer exists.radio stations are either piping in over the air talent from other cities or hiring local talent for less cheese ($$).
 
Noting the good Dr's recent 'radio' silence, perhaps it is he and Nurse Jeff who will be taking over for Chris and Amy, assuming you can believe the drunken rants of a Peak sales person. ;) The Buckeye Media Hut must be filled with a buzz and flurry of activity, coming up with funny radio bits and practicing prank calls to Asian massage parlors. ;D
 
I, for one, find this rumor from a person with 2 posts on this board and claiming to be at a restaurant where he knew that someone was a Peak sales person--psychically I guess--to be exceptionally credible and completely believable. How can we not take this to be the truth?

What made it even more credible for me was that he (or she) originally posted on the Puerto Rico board, just to throw us off. That was brilliant sleight of hand...misdirection. Classic move!
 
Oh, WOW! This must be true. Cuz I was having a Pina Colada at Trader Vic's & I heard that Matthew Blades is leaving Mix 96-9, and Chris Parker is returning to team up with Bristol Palin!
Can't wait! :D

Apparently the drunks at Benihana are more reliable than we have heretofore given them credit. I think Benihana should either start advertising on Da Peak, and/or host a 12-step program for drunken sales executives. Either way, it's a win-win. ;D
