Chris Brown

Why are CHR's dropping Brown's stuff when Lil Wayne and T.I. get into trouble but Whatever You Like or Lollipop is being played ????

How can you compare TI illegally owning a gun and Lil' Wayne doing drugs to Chris Brown (allegedly) hitting a woman?

Well its all bad things to do, and hitting a woman is a horrible thing to do, but Id like to hear his side of the story as well..... We made a funny mashup of Chris and Rhianna if that tells you anything about my sick sense of humour... only airs in the morning though.... We still play Forever, and rarely play Wall to Wall,,,, but they havent been dropped all together... He doesnt have a current Chart song... if listeners and adverts complainrf it would be different.

Exactly! Look, let's not be hypocrytes here. Some of the artsts on CHR/Pop radio have no problem talking about gang violence, popping a cap in your azz, or speedballing a variety of hardcore drugs.
Hitting a woman is bad, but NOT as bad as KILLING SOMEONE WITH A GUN...

The content of records isn't what's in question here. It's the alleged acts by the artist off the air. It isn't about what Chris Brown said in a song...it's about what he allegedly did in real life.

I think some are missing the seriousness of being a battered woman. Yes, the artists you mentioned committed serious crimes (drugs & guns) but most women can't relate. Ask any woman if she has been affected by someone being abused and you'll get a different reaction. I think that any station that targets females shouldn't make light of this alleged attack. Get ten women in a room and ask them what they think about Chris Brown and Rihanna and watch how they interact with the subject matter.

K~

Yeah well Ive heard some bad rumours about things Rhianna has done to Chris as well,,, Cheating and lying and keeps dumping him and taking him back,... not saying attacking her is right,,,,, It ISNt, but neither is always taking the females sides... DR PHIL and OPRAH men can get hurt too... My Ex hit me in the head with a skillet and cracked my skull....

WDAY-FM Fargo polled it's listeners, They will not air Brown at all - some 200 listeners have spoken.

The local paper wrote an article, But why jump the gun? In Radio, what ever happened to "Innocent before proven guilty"?

Apparently the stations have another case of premature evacuation. too bad they short change those who aren't willing to speak up.

You guys realize that plenty of artists do bad things, including hurting woman,,,, Drugs,, ECT,, that dont make the public... Look how many people pulled R Kelly Records after his supposed 14 YR old sex video, and MJ his molestation charges, they still get airplay... I havent had any calls from anyone wanting us to drop Chris's Records, so why should I... Its our job to play the hits,,, not take sides and be DR Phil.....

PS.... I do think that beating a woman is horrible,,, and brutal,,, but so is cheating and heart breaking on both sides,,, its not our JOBs as programmers to get into celebs personal life.. how many dropped Britney after she was caught driving with her baby on her lap,,,, not in car seat,,,, an Accident could have killed the poor child...

All in all im very sorry for Rhianna,, and I wish her a speedy recovery,,, but Chris,,, id like to here your side as well....

Perhaps radio should also ban the rapper TI for attempting to purchase a machine gun despite his status as a convicted felon!

Did these stations stop playing Chris Brown music because he allegedly hit a women or because he allegedly hit Rhianna ( Big Pop fan base )??

I'll assume the role of the cynic and say it's probably the latter. If he had struck a Jane Doe, I doubt the denunciation would have been so vociferous.

You can think what you want about Chris Brown's violence. But I think it says something quite negative and important when a majority of your listeners want Chris Brown off the air. Should a song getting negative research be played on the radio?

This brings to mind back in early 1990's(1991 most likely) when a West Palm Beach, Florida CHR station decided they were going to stop playing any Red Hot Chilli Peppers music. I was Living There at the time. Apparently it was due to Anthony Kedis thanking Satan at the MTV VMA's(most likely he was kidding) Big difference was that Under The Bridge was huge at that time. In fact it struck me odd because Under The Bridge was probably that station's most played song at that time.
