Chris Dipaola takes over at WXNI 1230 in Westerly

Since he posted this on his myspace page. I guess its safe now for me to discuss this. On May 25, 2007 at 12:30 pm.(That's the afternoon and 1230 is the frequency).
Chris will transfer his 96.7 programming to WXNI.WBLQ will become "96.7 The Buzz" playing alternative rock to target the tourists this season in the South Conty area this Summer.

"The Buzz" is from that Talk Station in Pawtucket that I had hoped would have taken off but instead went to "Radio Disney".

Alternative Rock in Providence has always taken a backseat to WBRU.His goal is to hit the vacationers, beaches, nightclubs and the 20 something yearolds who will be visiting our great coastline getting sunburned and drunk.
(just trying to be funny there)

I'm not trolling here, but, does Chris get any listenership with his Westerly/South County stations? I don't know if he gets Arbitron books or not, but I've always been curious to how many people are listening in that part of the state.

A nice "come full circle" for Chris, who was likely inspired by WERI 1230Am in Westerly growing up. His community approach has always followed that early programming. On the other note; it would take an awful lot of marketing money to let tourists, in town for a week at a time, to know about an alternative rock station on a 10-watt station. We'll see!
