Effective Monday 8/15/05 at 5:30 p.m. Chris's WCTD-LP flips from "Dance Hit's" to "Real Country 96.9".

The format will focus on Classic Country with a tease of 90's and newer type music that fit's the classic image.

Chris will also keep the memory of Eddy Zack and the Hayloft Jamborie alive by playing thier music in the mix.

Bill Friday of the old WHIM will doing some work on WCTD.

Speaking of which, When did Charlie Huddle pass? I heard nothing about it here or Fybush.com.
Edited by kenwood on 08/14/05 03:42 PM.

The disco divas of Westerly are going to have such a bad hair day over this. Seriously, I wish I could hear it as I'd like to hear some of the classic stuff but to recapture the magic of AM country radio in Providence they'll need to play cue-scratched 45s & run 70-second 60s.

So Chris is putting the final nail in the coffin of 96.9 The Morgue...!

Must admit, I enjoy the dance stuff of the era he had programmed on the station, but it seemed most of the DJs had terminal rigamortis..

A while back, I had tuned the station in while passing through Hopkinton, and Boney M's Ma Baker was on the radio... I called the DJ to say I hadnt heard that song in almost 20 years, what a treat...!

Daft bugger put it on again...!

Still nice to know even small station clusters have format changes!! Anyone think Chris is trying to preempt The Score?!!

All the best

Jazzy

You would never be able to hear the station unless you're down towards Hope Valley.I'm not sure when it starts coming in as to be truthful I've never heard it.

Hopefully the website crashes along with the Party

I hope he finds someone to redo his website too. I know you can listen in through the web, but 969theparty.com has to be one of the most unattractive websites I've seen in awhile. Not to mention you have to wait for the flash to play again every time you navigate back a page.

Maybe with the format change, we can see a more attractive and functional website that will beckon web listeners, rather than scare them away.
