Chris Duel callin' out Mike Taylor... Awesome

I happened to be listening to 1250 and I heard a Chris Duel promo talking about "not judging a Michael Jackson who has passed".. Obviously aimed at Mike Taylor's on air rant against Michael Jackson.. Things are heating up in the Alamo City.... Loving it... Taylor gets back next week... Lets see what he says... You know your City is relevant when the 2 competing Drive time Sports Dudes are feuding.... Loving It...

Neither should have even brought up the Michael jackson death since it has ZERO relevance to sports.

My opinion.
Neither show spends much time talking about baseball, presumably because San Antonians won't call in to talk about baseball. At that point, the Spurs were long gone from the NBA playoffs, the Big 12 hadn't had its Media Day yet and Cowboys' training camp was more than a month away. They had a big story that people were willing to talk about and a 3-4 hour airtime hole to fill. What would you have talked about instead?

Too bad nobody but you heard it, seeing as how they've registered nothing but dashes in the ratings ever since they launched. I wonder how long BMP keeps 1250 on life support now that the lenders have taken over and they haven't gotten any traction on Ticket760 in 18 months or so of being on air. You've got 3 hosts and a producer on full-time salary, not to mention any part-timers (if they use any) to run the ESPN play-by-play stuff at night. Seeing as how they're going to want to make the bottom line look good for liquidation purposes, it might make sense to go all syndication and just sell the ESPN brand.

Its not about ratings or making money. Its the prestige that comes from having two Sports Talk Stations in a Media Market. BMP will keep it afloat just for that reason... Thanx for coming...

That's the most asinine thing I've ever heard! You're telling me BMP will keep pumping money into a station that doesn't make any just because having two sports stations in one market somehow gives that market prestige??? If that's their reasoning behind it, then no wonder BMP can't make their debt payments.

By the way, it's ALL about ratings and money. If you're not in business to make money, then you're not in business. Thanks for playing.

Another observation, why does the big market reject have to 'beg' listeners to tune into his show, which is supposed to be the best in town? If the show was that good, then CC wouldn't run the promo simutaneously with some other promo from Foxsports radio, turning both into unintelligible goobledygook.

I have wondered the exact same thing. I rarely listen to 760 but I hear that promo all the time. It's pretty pathetic.

Check out this post from Mike Taylor's "MayorofSports" Twitter account on June 17th, which is a distasteful, direct attack on Chris Duel:

Is it d-bag to use your dead dad as a prop for a blog in order to get attention? I say yes. Those that know what I talk of nod their heads.6:38 AM Jun 17th from web

This is without a doubt in reference to Chris' mysa.com Memorial Day blog which paid tribute to his deceased father and brother, who were vets >>>> http://voices.mysanantonio.com/chris_duel/2009/05/from-my-fathers-grave---a-memo.html
I don't know Mike Taylor personally, but judging from his vile Michael Jackson comments, and his labeling Chris' dad as a "prop for a blog," it sounds like he is a miserable, bitter person.

Speaking of Taylor's Twittering....he's not even trying to disguise his bitterness towards the ESPN guys now. Here are his most recent Twitter posts>>>>>

These may simply be harmless, tongue-in-cheek potshots at the competition. But the d-bag/prop blast from June 17th is just plain despicable.

It seems to be only a clear example of their total lack of talent, professionalism and maturity. It makes one wonder why that big market reject 'voluntarily' left Big D for tacoland. The other one surely wormed his way into that sports station much in the same slimy way he slid into KTSA, and was most likely complicite in the conspiracy that removed the host of the timeslot he occupied. Neither show or their hosts are worth listening to and I think both stations would be more listenable and profitable if they ran syndicated shows in their place. Or give us some decent talent that actually discusses relevant sports topics.
