Chris Kroc-Will he be fired after tonight?

Don't get me wrong. I love this guy! His enthusiasm is incredible. Tonight's show with election results is must-listen. His tirades of on Mark Taylor and raucaus cheering with all egative results for Cynthia McKinnney are just hilarious...but so not professional.

What are the chances of this guy doing a show during election returns in November, let alone being on the air tomorrow?

Not a Krock fan here . . . This market is too big for him and I think he needs to do evenings in Toledo. Denny, please take Krock with you when you return to your old home!

Compared to what Election Day coverage has been on talk radio in the past in Atlanta, the WSB coverage this evening was amateurish at best. Show the executive that missed this opportunity the door too.

Oh, just where is Royal Marshall when you need him?

I did not even bother to tune in to WGST, previously a leader in radio election day coverage. Thank goodness I found 11alive.com for Internet coverage. It was good to hear Dennis O' Hayre with his professional reporting again. Dennis is underutilized at 11deadoralive!

Yeah, but Tom was there to be his counter-part with help. I guess I like amateurish because he's way more entertaining than just reading off the vote totals.

 I spent last night listening to WGKA's election coverage. Not bad for them. Some guy named Steve Winslow (sp?) was the anchor. I did like the coverage. Not as slick as it could have been but definitely better than anything else. You got just the info you needed and no fluff like WSB. I am definitely becoming a fan of this station. ;D

Re: Not a Kroc fan but...

As long as his rants on returns were confined to his actual show segments then I see nothing unprofessional about that. His job is to entertain/generate callers not unbiased reporting. Now if WSB did a poor job of reporting election returns, that issue lies more with the news/programming than with Kroc.

But yeah, I wish Royal was back too.

Not a Kroc fan or detractor. But I also tried to listen to Kroc last night. Poor guy. He was in way over his head. It was apparent he really does not know Georgia politics. Where was the depth? Insight? History?

I have tried listening to his show before but his long pauses always put me to sleep. Not good when I'm driving. That said, I'm only in my car that late at night about once a month, so maybe it was just the shows I heard.

I missed Dennis O Hare last night. That guy knows Georgia. And you are right, 11alive does not use him enough.

I agree with the previous posts. I would have preferred to hear Royal Marshall. Given Royal's history with Cynthia (she stood him up for an interview) last night would have been a great show.

Does anyone know why Royal is not on the air? He doesn't even sub for Boortz anymore. Granted, Royal could use some polish, but he is far better than Kroc and much more entertaining than Herman Cain.

OK. . Who gets fired first Kroc or Shaffer? And which job goes to David Paul?

Further reflection on Krok, I found his constant interruption of the Hedge Hog (Houck) extremely irritating. It is bad enough when he does it to callers, it was very detracting listening to him do it to his guest co-host.

When they put Savage on evidently there was a decision that Royal would not handle any talk host duties. Royal was not very happy about this at all. I think he has elected to concentrate on family (recent marriage and new baby), Real Estate investments, and new career in comedy.

WSB made a big mistake by deciding that Royal was not good enough to continue to do talk. Royal's worst night was better than Krok any night . . .

Don't get me wrong folks. I loved the show that was done last night. It was just not what I am used to hear on Election night from WSB. the returns themselves were done with class from the anchor desk. Kroc would get numbers from Tom and go totally ape with sound effects, hooting, hollering, and whistling when numbers were confirming that McKinney was going to a run-off. i was rolling all over the floor.

The reason I asked the question was not that I thought this was bad. I thought it was highly entertaining. However this is something that is unexpected from a station owned by a mega-conglomerate. However you would not expect a live and local, late-evening talk show on such a station either (the only other stations i know that do such a thing are KDKA and WGN). I give props to WSB for having the cajones to try and pull one off and with such an entertaining personality as well.

Roayl is great and I think he would have done a good job as well. However I think and feel that the decision to go with Kroc and not Royal was Royal's decision. I really can't judge at all but considering what life has had in store for Royal lately he is in no position to be doing a late-night show with his recent marriage and newborn baby. However if what yo usay is true and that Royal was not happy I truly commend hiom for being such a good sport. It takes a far better man to continue working for someone who doesn't appreciate you. In his position I probably would have walked.

It takes a while to get used to any new on air personality. I'm pretty much listening to him every night now. I think he has great potential. I do get a little irritated by him telling us what number show this is. And I wish he wouldn't introduce practically every caller by telling us what the station name is and what the name of the show is. But other than that, he is pretty good.
