Chris Markowski Does not Renew Contract

Today Chris Markowski discontinued his relationship with AM 820 WWBA, and wants to say he’s proud of what he’s accomplished at WWBA.

Exactly! He may be "proud" but given WWBA's ratings remain low and overall may have gotten lower, it's hard to say what he "accomplished".

Too bad. Chris brought the milk toast Tampa Bay afternoons a desperately needed shot of reality! WWBA probably didn't want to continue to pay him anymore than he was already making. Same thing happened to Larsen in January of 2010 (end of 2009). I heard Paul Gonzales' show this afternoon, I was kind of hoping it was an April's Fools joke.
Now, if the 3 Amigos (or should it read "amigas") on the "Big Show" in the mornings could get releived or not re-signed, Tampa Bay radio may have a slight chance of increased ratings, more credibility, and less "tabloid tactics" in broadcasting.
Oh well, "Tony from Tampa" might call Paul's show, and take Paul to the tool shed.

I listened to him every now and again, and wasn't impressed- but he was OK- I mean just think of THE BIG SHOW - maybe he should have gone for that spot, because it has to be up for grabs- its a nightmare (morningmare?). -but I think the people who pay for their time in an attempt to get something happening is unfairly frowned upon. He is good enough to give it a shot, but just couldnt get enough advertising I assume, due to not enough growth in listener numbers. Not sure how WWBA worked this one- I contacted them numerous times about purchasing time, as I feel I have the talent to give it a go, but they never replied once. I would even do a graveyard - but no response from them. For a station that brokers a good bit of time these days, I found that a little strange.

Pipes are not that great, he was paying for the time and worse yet, he did little to no local talk. In my opinion that is what will beat all the other national shows. Someone who talks about OUR TOWN. Oh and his ISDN connection sucked. Probably was using a cheap mic or perhaps a Vector.

So what happens Monday? More informercials?

It would be a sick joke. Yet, Tim Rocha did do a news break, and signed off with, "...on AM 1360 WCGL," during one of the shows. Can't remember if it was in the afternoon though. Please please be a sick joke. Not sure if I could take another of Paul's callers like "Joy from Tampa" talking about losing power during the storm:
"I was just thinking how hard life was back in old times...living without the electric," "I mean, life without the electric..." Without "the electric"??? C'mon....
I'd rather hear Paul interview Stanton Friedman again!

Wait, how do we know it's not an April Fool's joke? ::)
