Chris Prospero

Good to hear Chris Prospero back on the air. I heard him doing a shift on "The Bus", he said it was his first day on the air there. Glad someone in this business is getting a job for once instead of losing one. Anyone know if Jim Moser stayed around here or did he leave town?

Um...correct me if this seems too obvious...but wouldn't Chris seem to be the logial choice for part of the new Morning Team on QWK?

He's working for Scott Conklin alongside Tor. I believe he's also working with Tor's mobile DJ service. I don't kow if he'll return to radio or not.

1. There is already brand identity with Troy and Jerry.

2. Did you see Chris and Jim's numbers at the Buzz? Not so good - and you can't blame the signal because it's the SAME signal as JOE-FM.

3. Pulling Bob & Tom is also a budget issue, so they shifted jocks around to make it happen and I am sure there is not enough money in the QWK budget to add Chris

4. Chris and/or Jim have been gone from QWK Rock long enough to be irrelavant to their listeners

So....ummm...no Hitman...it isn't so obvious or logical.

I met Chris before and he seemed like a nice guy and I hope he does well on the Bus...it's good to see radio people land on their feet, but if I were still there, I would have pushed for the same move with Troy & Jerry.

They may have had dismal numbers at the Buzz, but from what I recall, Chris and Jim did fairly well at Qwk in their day which is why the Buzz wanted them in the first place. I personally liked their show usually and I am not a Qwk Rock fanatic by any means.

I'd buy your comment on the budgetary issue because from the rumors on the street, Qwk isn't billing what she should be able to with 103's stronger signal. But I do not know firsthand either.

By the way...you must've missed it Glen. I am not Hitman any more...Just call me Steve

Irrelevant to their listeners? Those guys were on QWK for like ten years, and have been off the air in the market for what, a year now? People aren't likely to have forgotten them. It's not like we're talking about Tom & Karen here. Numbers were lousy on The Buzz before they got there, lousy in their first book, a little less lousy in the book that came out after there were fired.

Brand identity for Troy & Jerry? If I went downtown and asked 100 people in the demo who Troy Craig was, now many people do you suppose would know the answer? If I asked 100 people if they knew who Chris & Jim were, I'd bet I would get a higher response rate.

If you asked 100 QWK Rock P1's and P2's, they'd know who Troy and Jerry are. The goal is to bring QWK's cume back to a daypart that has not been listening in AM Drive to that station for two years now.

If Chris and Jim had THAT much heritage built into their name, how come they couldn't draw at the Buzz, especially without a younger leaning, male driven AM Show in the market? Don't forget, their last couple of books at QWK were trending downward, too.

I think for QWK Rock in 2007, Troy and Jerry were and are the right choice.

Exactly, Hitman ;)

I have a question? Is Chris doing the midday at the bus? If so what happened to Vas or Vox or whatever his name was...I liked him and if I am not mistaken didn't he start on QWK? Did they move him back to QWK?

My guess is that Voz is moving to nights on QWK and Scotty moved up to afternoons. Chris is a good fit for Midday's on the Bus...a solid jock who I think will do well there.

From what I heard so far:

Alex Mac is 10-2
Scotty is 2-7
Vox 7-midnight

The Bus is:
Jeff Brown 6-10
Chris 10-2
Tony Ricciardi 2-7
Alice Cooper 7-midnight

Spackler1,
No Wenke and Biddle?...lol. As for Prospero, he was at Qwk rock even longer, I believe he started off at nights before moving to mornings. Anyway, Forever has him no matter what station he's on, he's a solid jock and he'll do well on the Bus. As for QWK mornings, I knew a few people that were Country fans, but they would tune in every morning to listen to B & T. I think QWK had listeners, Forever just couldn't sell it.

mistermicrophone said a few posts back "2. Did you see Chris and Jim's numbers at the Buzz? Not so good - and you can't blame the signal because it's the SAME signal as JOE-FM."

The comment stuck with me because I seem to remember that they actually did very well in their last book (Spring, not Fall-Spring), but nobody noticed because "Joe" had already replaced them. Let's throw the flag & ask for an official review.

Chris & Jim finished at #3 in Adults 18-24 and #3 in Men 18-34, Buzz's purported targets. It was their only book with the State College booster. Given the time, Chris & Jim would have done well and The Buzz would have emerged as the King of The Campus. But it wasn't to be. Timing is everything.

But Chris & Jim have nothing to be ashamed of. The long run at Quick speaks for itself, and they did in fact go out in a blaze of glory, kicking *ss and taking names.

This is off-topic, but Alice Cooper has a great show. I was skeptical because I hadn't heard it before it went on, but I think the music is great and he is entertaining.

I agree, Alice plays a lot of great mx, cuts and rarities you simply don't hear being played on the bus. I guess Forever likes Alice because he's on Rocky 104 as well.

Alice is also on CHX, Lewistown but it doesn't stop at midnight. We replay the show again until 5am for the 3rd shift listeners! :)

Alice does put on a good show...but Alice is very attractive as he does not require any effort in programming the show, nor does he draw a real salary from the station. Good cheap labor ;)

Hitman, I can assure you that the decision to add Alice was not based on good, cheap labor and it requires more prep work from the PD than when the show was tracked locally. I can't speak for Rocky 104, but adding the show on the Bus was based on the content. So, thanks, but try again.

As for the question about Chris and Jim's numbers a few posts back, yes, they may have finished #3 Men 18 - 34 and Adults 18 - 24, but the difference between #2 & #3 was vast in both demos, if I recall correctly. I think they did a great show for a long period of time, but QWK has evolved and moved on, nothing against them. Like I said before, Chris is good and will be a solid jock on the Bus.

Glen, in what way does Alice require more prep work from the PD than if the show was tracked locally? This is not meant as a sarcastic question...I'm legitimately curious.
