Chris Thomas leaves WMUR

His last day was Friday... he had been doing the morning show weather there for 9 years. I hear he's leaving to work for a company that does weather computers or something like that.

Yes, the company is WSI. Part of their business is Information Technology for meterology departments. He also mentioned that they may do some forecasts for CNBC and/or CNN?

WMUR has already hired his replacement. Kevin Skarupa from WKRN, Nashville starts October 10th.

I don't know if ChRis Thomas is a lifelong New Englander, but if he is, why didn't WBZ-4 here in Boston hire him for mornings and move morning weather anchor Barry Burbank to the weeknight newscasts??

I beleive he is a 'lifelong' New Englander.

If it were me I would not hire him for the big time yet. He's improved a lot however I don't think he is ready for that type of assignment. Maybe a weekend shift. WSI is a good fit for him due to his experience in Computer Graphics.

I think 'BZ is really hoping another WMUR alum, Mish Michaels, takes the weeknight gig.

Is it just me or has there been a lot of turnover at WMUR lately. Appears to be a lot of new faces. I haven't seen Audry Cox is a while and I saw Tara Mergner on the newscast from H-A's DC Bureau a week or so ago. I know Kate Amara is at their sister station in Baltimore (WBAL-TV). Where have the rest gone?

I heard through the grapevine that they have a new boss who has rubbed many the wrong way and caused several to leave.

Here's what my sources tell me: Audrey Cox left to take a job in PR in NYC... I don't know who else you're wondering about.
