Christian CHR in Eastern Iowa (looking for future help)

The New 89.1 The Spirit in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is searching for future talent. If you have a passion for Christian radio & impacting culture, then we want to hear from you. The main character trait we are looking for is someone with a servant’s heart. The first thing we're looking for is a Voice Tracker. We're looking for someone who knows the local scene & is able to come to our studios to voice track your show. You could also get a few extra hours by helping at events, live locations, production and/or various other things.Send demo, resume & salary requirements to: [email protected]emales strongly encouraged to apply!

As a veteran in the radio industry, I know that if you want "talent" to apply for your gig, you need a MUCH more hip, and eye catching ad Jack. How about something like this:"Do you want to Jam for Jesus? Then WE need YOU!" OR "Man does not live by bread alone...he also needs a healthy does of PETRA!" Or another one, "You wanna help us CRUCIFY the competition? Then send us your tape and resume now!"Listings like these will get MUCH better responses than just boring old "need voicetracker". Charge for this invaluable advice....PRICELESS.The Stick

There are many in radio who love both CHR and God- but not many opportunities to see the two intersect. This seems like a prime gig to watch lives be changed before your eyes...

Jack's doing a great job taking a station that's been around for a l-o-n-g time and make it sound really good. Check out the sound at www.891thespirit.com.

i don't like what's happened to the station over the last year or so. i liked the KWOF image and all. the new spirit thing seems so generic. like every other christian radio station. the way, the cross, the spirit. it all seems so trendy. i guess that CHR for ya. and the moving the studio? that is a killer to me. i guess CR is where the fan base is at. since they get the FM signal while the rest of iowa is stuck listening to AM. i guess i'm just disappointed. i thought the station was better than that. i miss the morning mikes. like espn, mike & mike. good times... i also miss the contests, giveaways and fun stuff. not the bland generic stuff on now. there is always the originality vs. security issue. too bad. i guess ppl are still getting ministered too though. so that is good. keep reaching lives.

Maybe once they hire this "future help" it won't be as generic? Although the description says tracking, which usually doesn't ad much zest. We shall see, huh? I think they are doing a great job.

Thanks, dsj. :)

For everyone else who doubts....hide & watch! ;)

BTW, kudos to Eastern Iowa. The Spirit just had our Grand Opening & easily had about 500 listeners come through the doors. We also started out with a need just under $28,000 & at the end, EXCEEDED it. The beauty of listener support...Thank God for supporters & fans of Positive Hit Music in Eastern Iowa. ;D

Are you seeking to market to conservative through liberal Christianity, or do you have the same old conservative bent? I struggle to find religious radio personalities, outside of maybe my Jewish favorite Capt. Steve (Bridges) Soboroff, who can really address the spiritual needs of the theologically liberal. If you want to try to tap across the Christian theological spectrum, including especially the United Church of Christ, I'd be interested in learning more about the job. But if not, count me out. I'll wait for a modern manner sunrise service on the east side, and you can gab in the western hills. Blessings to you and yours....
