Christian CHR

I have been watching JCTV and looking at the gospel charts and finding out what i can about holy hip hop in a desire to design a CHR that embraces hip hop/r&b music just like mainstream CHR already does. Christian CHR embraces rock on a regular basis but that is not what most CHR radio embraces outside of a few cuts on its playlist.

Most Christian CHR has tobymac/group 1 crew/ kj-52 and Shonlock but Lacrae, Kirk Franklin, Deitrick Haddon, Teddishii and Talkbox Chambers do not make Christian CHR playlists.
I see stations like Z 93.7 in Anchorage and The Refuge adding some hip/hop songs but what about Air 1, (i guess an Adult CHR) and Way Fm (hot ac to fresh AC.

I am imprerssed with hot 95.9 in orlando but that is all christian hip hop and r&b. U look at mainstream urban and CHR charts and a lot of songs are on both. I have tried the Power Radio from houston and it maybe the closest to what CHR radio sounds like today.

I know many cases its listener donations that determine how a station sounds but Christian CHR typically is similar to Hot ac and that does not attract teens. Even rock music does not reach young people like it use to. Young people of all races prefer hip hop and r&b mixed in with pop and rock on CHR radio.

Sadly most folks listening to Christian CHR dont want the hip hop.. I tried to have it in reg. rotation on my internet station and found high tune out when the hip hop songs came on... outside of what is on the CHR chart.

and sadly... "tune out = less likely to support my ministry"

Great outreach for youth!

Don't know if I consider "Fuse" Christian .. they play a lot of non christian stuff such as Colbie Callet, Cold play and others Ive heard them do in the past... They are more of a Spiritual type station ... Not knocking what their doing though ...
