Christian Q 99.5 KZZQ relaunches as "Pulse 99.5"

Pulse 99.5
Christian radio station in Des Moines provides a venue of Contemporary Christian and alternative music.
www.kzzq.com/

Their website does not appear to be up yet but they today went a mix of Christian CHR and mainstream music.

Their online stream in WMA:

WOW... they sound a bit more progressive than homefm and greyfm. There seems to be a lot of top 40 type of hits with some R&B and rap thrown in. Very interesting.

They had been Christian CHR prior and I guess at one point in their past they where borderline Christian Rock/Rhy. So their new format with the mainstream mix seems to be on par as a positive CHR.

For instance in the last hour I heard Natasha Beddingfield "Pocket full of sunshine" and Nickelback's "If Everyone Cared" just aired.

The website has this to say "About" the music...

At Pulse 99.5, we believe that you want to hear music good for your head and good for your heart. The music you hear at Pulse 99.5 is evaluated on a song by song basis. We have established a three-point Pulse 99.5 Song Selection Criteria and the Song MUST contain at least ONE of these qualities to be aired:

1) A Message of Transcendence - "Something is bigger than I am. There is a 'higher power'."

2) A Message of Significance - "There is more to life. I can make a difference. I matter."

3) A Message of Community - "I am part of something."

Thank you for listening and Setting the Pace! Pulse 99.5

Schlote's is a good guy. Hopfully this will plow new ground for Des Moines. Praying for ya team!

Grey.FM is intended as a Hot AC, and I believe Home. FM is intended to sound like an AC.

I got to listen for a few hours on Wednesday, and while they did seem to be a little alt-leaning (think old school WABB/Mobile) at times, I liked the music mix.
