Christian Rock Show In Atlanta

I was amazed when J93.3 was playing a Christian Rock Show. This is something Atlanta needed badly. Maybe it will help their ratings. What do you think. What will it take to boost there ratings?

I miss the old "Powersource" on Victory 91.5. Tim was a nice guy to talk to and a lot of fun on the air too. I was a huge fan, but then they shook things up, let go of talent and started an all-in-one format. Sounds good, but there's nothing like a Christian Rock Show with fun contests, artist/music info and requests. I'll have to listen in. Is it as good as Powersource? Tim took calls, joined "Uncle Mikey Mike" online and stayed on from 9 till 1 in the morning. Tim made it more than a radio show. He made it a weekly event.<P ID="signature">______________

In the wise words of Bart Simpson, everybody knows that all of the good rock bands are affiliated with Satan.

They interact more with college students in their broadcast. They have two dj's and a crew of college students that run the show. Everything sounds pretty good. They really dont follow radio and records to well on the top rock singles. But they can always use encouragement. They also have a local battle of the bands where they stick two bands songs in and battle them out. I think it is amazing to have something like this in Atlanta again. You can visit www.j933.com for more info on the play list .

And thank you, Mister J93.3 Saturday evening rock show co-host, for your unabashed plug of your show.
I happen to know someone who works that show and he said the phone rang off the hook, with MOSTLY positive feedback. I'm betting it rang more in those few hours than it did in the last month there. The absolute best thing J93 could do would be to go out on a limb and get aggressive with the format, giving Christian listeners a fresh CHOICE! Atlanta does not need two Christian FMs playing identical playlists and J will always lose out to the Fish due to its inferior signal. But I doubt the conservative management would ever go for it.

I think you might be surprised! Rick Davidson is conservative but he also wants to win real bad!! Plus, he is really dedicated to the Christian radio ministry....if he can be convinced that it will be effective in leading others to Christ then my guess is he would go for it.
Best thing J93 could do is go 12-34....your right Mr. Smith, J has lost the battle for AC.

I have never understood why Christian rock was always given the back seat to that horrible cheesy pop fluff. I am no longer a Christian (agnostic) even after many trips outside the U.S. for small mission trips. But I used to LOVE underground Christian rock and thought it was funny how few people would ever get to hear this music. I'm not talking about DC Talk either. Anything from Luxury to Poor Old Lu to Lost Dogs to Paloma to VOL, etc. These are all great bands.

I won't be tuning into your show simply because I can't take the theology anymore, but I do wish you well.

I hope whatever hurt you or caused you to leave your belief in Christ will be healed. You can't do it on your own. None of us can. You need Him. Forget the theology...you don't need it. You just need the relationship with Him. Don't let other people screw it up for you.

Bugz, nothing hurt me. Seems many Christians assume I had some pain or some anger at gawd or something to make me leave my faith. Short story was I couldn't put square pegs in round holes anymore. There are just WAY too many inconsistencies with Christianity. What you said above could just as easily be the same with Islam. I'd bet that if Christians studied their "religion" as closely as other religions they'd find it rather silly. Why do you cast off other faiths yet cling to your own? Ask yourself that honestly. Not some, "But it's a relationship, not a religion" line. I understand why people believe. I was there. But I just can no longer have faith in something that requires just that... FAITH. Why not just have faith in another religion? Don't Muslims believe in their heart what they believe is true? I understand that you have reasons/rationale that bring you up to a point of belief. But then the gulf of faith to 100% belief is where most people have a problem. That's me.

Other people haven't screwed up whatever belief I had. Well, that's not entirely true. Christian apologetics are so weak compared to rational, skeptical challenges. But mostly the bible itself is a good enough reason to quit believing.

I'm sorry to hear that. I guess the only question I have for you is...knowing what you used to believe, what if it's true? Why would you risk the end consequence? Other religions, like Muslims, may believe theirs to be true, but there is too much evidence to support Christ and the Bible. Not trying to preach...and certainly I am not perfect. Just wish you could believe. Faith is just that...faith. If we knew it all, there would be no point.

Hey Bugz... first, let me say that I appreciate the way you have worded
things. I mean, this can be a heated subject and I've seen people throw
barbs quite quickly when discussing such a personal belief. What if it's
true? It very well could be. And what if it's not? Then you have wasted
considerable energy (time, money, sanity, guilt, sadness, worry, a paradoxical belief system, etc.). Yeah, I realize there are also positives like feeling secure with a sky daddy and having a sense of hope. At least for Christians who end up in a good church with "decent" teaching.

I guess if you got into a discussion with most non-believers they aren't
going to be persuaded by the threat of hell. Hell, there is enough problem with that concept ;) And I don't believe there is enough evidence to support Christ and the bible outside of the bible. Search online for rebuttals to Lee Strobels "The Case for Faith" or Josh McDowell's "Evidence That Demands a Verdict". Just put your toe in the water and read why people have HUGE problems with Christianity. At the very least you'll understand why not everyone chooses to believe. And just maybe you'll be like me and follow what makes more sense and leave it behind.
