This 5-day a week part time stuff is nothing new. I've done it on a couple of occasions: once to get the particular calls on my resume & once out of necessity. This was over 15 years ago but neither was a case of a full time position suddenly becoming a part time one. It's fine when you're in your 20s or 30s, single, & can handle it...especially since health insurance is the farthest thing from your mind & the only thing you care about is making sure you're on the radio. People need to take more control over their careers, though, & even the most well-intentioned management knows when the chips are down you'll deal with it. If she's leaving on her own because the job is now part time, she's doing the right thing. She's taking control. If it happens to you & your hands are tied & can't relocate, then take control & weekend only. You may actually enjoy it more. If you're devoting 5 or 6 days a week to part time work with lower pay & no benes, you'd better be doing it temporarily only with a clear idea of why you're really doing it. Erica took control. Now look at what she's doing.
