Christine Lund?

Any idea whats she's doing. Still in semi-retirement mode?
I caught word some months ago that she may be on-air again in the L.A. area?
Grew up watching her, Jerry and Dr. George on KABC. Thanks for your time. Rob in Nashville

> Hasn't Lund been gone for many years? I have this picture in my mind of a long blonde shag haircut and one of those tacky blue sport coats with the circle-7 logo on it. Maybe she's out playing golf with Van Amburg from ABC 7 in SF. Capital Cities showed him the door about 1982 - when they bought ABC- despite years of mostly stellar ratings.

I remember her on KGO-TV but I haven't heard anything about her for 30 years.

> If she was on KGO-TV, it must have been in earlier than 1973. She had a good run on KABC-TV, mostly co-anchoring with Jerry Dunphy. But in my memory, that ended at least 20 years ago.

The picture in your mind would be the same as mine. I had heard that some L.A. based TV station was trying to get her back, in what capacity I haven't the foggiest. But when I had heard or read this, my thoughts were, why? Back in her KABC days, I enjoyed the newscasts, but now. Humm? not real sure. Although, Hal Fishman is still trecking forward at "5". By the way, Christine did make a brief comeback back in the 90's on KABC, I think alongside Harold Greene at the time.

> We're probably venturing into sexist territory here- though local news remains mostly sexist. Sorry Christine Craft. The local TV news anchor stereotype seems to be (1) Older caucasian gray haired male anchor - doesn't matter how ugly, and (2) young pretty female anchor - preferably ethnic or non-white. The only "older" female anchor I can think of in the Bay Area is Cheryl Jennings, and she is still very nice looking. So it is hard to imagine a place for Chrsine Lund - as an anchor, anyway. By the way, I think it was Dave McElhatton on CBS 5 in SF who started the trend in the late 70s away from the pretty boy anchor-stud. He had been a popular long-time SF radio personality, but he was fat, balding, and 50ish. His first co-anchor was Harold Greene, who did NOT come off well, and was dropped in less than a year. So it's been interesting to see how successful Greene's career has been in LA. By the way, Hal Fishman definitely bucked the pretty-boy trend when he was younger. In the 60s, he was kind of odd and sinister looking, and had a nervous habit of bugging his eyes out every few seconds. He's a nicer looking senior citizen, and he's had the good taste to let his toupee age gracefully as well.

As for who has gray hair and who don't. It doesn't matter to me. What does matter is some validity on-air, and if that means someone who is young and vibrant then so be it. If it means someone who's testing the retirement waters with their big toe, then so be it. I do have to say, I was back in L.A. to see family a couple weeks ago. Was scanning the different news casts, the folks giving the weather reports. What has happened? I was watching one channel where this lady obviously hadn't any idea what she was talking about. Not like she was distracted or anything, she was clueless. Then on another channel, the Weather guy was giving weather and giving entertainment tid bits at the same time. It was painful. But I guess with research, this is what the L.A. market wants???
