Christine Webb Heading to Florida

Christine Webb, Ch 13 Medical Reporter, is headed to another Ch 13- at Central Florida News 13 in Orlando, where she’ll also be a Medical Reporter. Insiders say she’s moving to be closer to her family in Florida. She'll also be missed in Rochester... she broke a lot of medical stories.

Good for her! It's tough to be that far away from family so if one can find work closer to home, I say congratulations.

It will be interesting to see who replaces Ms. Webb. I wonder if the medical reporters at 8 or 10 will apply for the job?

On a side note, I watched some "Central Florida News 13" last year while on vacation.

In some ways, it's very similar to News 10 Now (and I'd assume R-News) but in some other ways it seemed better. The cable company down there is Brighthouse Networks. I suspect TW either has a stake in it, or perhaps USED to... just based on the similarities. They had "title screens" going into each story, they have the "weather on the 1's" gimmick, and look at the "partners" listed on their website -- the logo for "Bay News 9" looks awfully similar to "Capital News 9."

Beyond the basic similarities though, I remember the on-air presentation looked better, the graphics are better (or at least they were), and it seems either they're live more often, or they do a better job not "looking" like they're repeating themselves all the time. (Hey, maybe they've figured out the groundbreaking strategy of taping TWO versions of every story, instead of running the same one every 1/2 hour!) The website also looks much better. Orlando's a considerably larger market with more news, and weather is a much bigger factor... my guess is they're actually live more often than News 10 Now or Cap 9.

Add Bay News 9 in Tampa to the look alikes as well.

I believe BrightHouse Networks is co-owned by Time Warner and the Newhouse family. I think the Newhouse family owns the majority stake.

We could do that, however it'd be overly grueling to essentially double the workload and unnecessary as our format allows us to update as we see fit.

The best days are when we get enough stories that we don't have to repeat anything. And really, that is most week days.
