Christmas Carols and New formats

Anyone want to take bets as to when EZ 103 and Magic 93 will go all Christmas.

I'm guessing October 1. LOL!

On a more serious note I have not heard anything on the grapevine with new formats coming down the pike with the exception of 104.9 WWRR. It appears we will not get to see a new JACK format anytime soon. I'd like to see 104.9 try it but from what I understand that is impossible under the new management. It sounds like many people think they will got oldies (although I can't imagine them being successful against WNAK or Oldies 92/100). It seems the Mountain is here to stay (I've noticed they are pretty consistent in the ratings and do reasonably well considering their limited coverage area). I'm not sure about EZ 103's ratings. I listen to EZ at work and like the music they play while at work. They play a lot of songs other stations don't play, but looking at Arbitrons in NEPA it appears people around here only like stations with less variety and music (sorry, don't mean to get cynical). I've learned to hate playlists over the last few years as it seems to stifle creativity and variety at radio stations. You don't have to think about whay you are playing, just punch it up on a computer. Any other thoughts about other potential changes to come in the next few months?

Wait..isn't that Entercoms slogan...."Less Variety and the "same" Music".
More of your "tired favorites" over and over and over and over.
As far as when Christmas music will be played...when does the fall book start?

I'll have to start on the annual Yonki family CD issued every
year since 2000. But on your observation, at least there is no
one playing Christmas tunes in July for a Christmas in July
promotion. And I hope to God I did not give anyone a bad idea
by expressing a thought that was better left supressed.

Got my first Christmas program in yesterday (9-20), plus a bingo card for ordering more long-form programs and :90 second features from the same place.<P ID="signature">______________

Dave - remember Ed Wallison @ WARD and his "annual" Christmas in July program? He actually sold his own spots for that thing and people bought!

I completely forgot about that!!! That was really
crazy though. Sweltering in the hot July sun and
hearing Ed spinning "Oh Holy Night" and "Jingle Bell
Rock!!!". Some times I guess we surpress certain
memories.
