Christmas comes early to yakima

Was traveling over the weekend, and found 104.9 KXLE in Union Gap/Yakima playing 24/7 Christmas music. They labeled themselves 104.9 North Pole FM. This station was on last year around this time, then went silent for many months. Perhaps they finally got some money and will keep the station going this time around. I didn't hear any advertisements, but if they are just trying to build cume, then whatever they launch after Christmas will probably bring them listeners.

Wonder if KCMS Spirit 105.3 will run Christmas music again on Halloween. When will KRWM and KCMS throw the switch in November?
I predict around 11/11.

Usually it's a week before Thanksgiving for KRWM. But with new ownership anything is possible. Or status quo. We'll see.

The only time KRWM flipped earlier was during KJR-FM's flip to Holiday in 2010. Which started a week before KRWM's yearly flip.

I would bet if they were playing christmas music this early, that they must be 'stunting'.

Christmas music before Halloween signals a format change 98% of the time.

This probably needs to be in the WA State thread, but I don't blame you for posting it here, as almost no one posts on the state threads.

If it's before 11/1, that's often the case. But not always. Those sizzling ratings and especially the balance sheets are hard to resist.

KYXE - isn't it? They did this last year, and it went on thru 12/25 - then went silent. I hope this 104.9 is going to be an AC station after Christmas. Yakima needs one BAD. After KQMY flipped to KIT - there is no AC or Hot AC in town. KFFM (CHR) is the closest followed by KRSE (Adult Hits). And no one is going to listen to a 70-mile away multipathed signal of KONA 105.3.

KYXE, KXLE.....Somebody's gonna goof those up....

Actually - KYXE was the old calls for 1020 kHz in Yakima - of course a Mexican music station - what do you expect down there?
Hoping for AC to come back on in December.

It's hard to beat KDNA, which is practically an institution amongst the Spanish speaking crowd in Yakima. Last time I was there, I heard KDNA everywhere.......

I read something on the Washington state forum that KYXE flipped from Christmas music to a Hispanic Christian (think KVAN-1560 Tri Cities) format. No more Christmas in Yakima, and the only way out is a staticky 70-mi away KONA 105.3 in Pasco which is now playing Christmas as of 11/26.
