Christmas flips

WNUU "New 92.7" flipped to Santa 92.7, beating out the publicized Christmas flip of WARM 103 by at least a week. Hardly newsworthy, except that Christmas music probably boosts each station's listenership to highest levels of the year.

WNUU is a Top 40 station. I don't know of any Top 40 station that switches to Christmas music. In fact, Top 40 stations play little or no Christmas music, even on Dec. 24 and 25. They're the place to get away from Christmas music.

So is this a try-out to see if a youthful audience wants Christmas music? Or will WNUU go to another format on Dec. 26?
