Christmas Humor.. or is it

I don't get the "inside joke" but I do get the gist of the audio clip.
It's been evident over the last years that, in Boston anyway, Clear Channel has been looking to cut as many corners as possible to minimize expenses and maximize profit. Understandable to a point but IMO they are denigrating the overall industry. For 2 decades KISS-108 was the leader in quality talent and engineering. They had the best people and the absolute best sounding audio in town.

This century they've let most of their well known professional talent go saving lots of money but losing well known seasoned personalities. They have migrated from a small but very dedicated, talented and efficient technical staff to lesser skilled lower paid personnel. Now they took the next step and do not seem to even have a full time technical staff. And it sounds like it. They no longer have that fine tuned superb audio quality other stations envied 10 years ago. Maybe corporate Clear Channel doesn't monitor such things or they don't care. After all, their ratings are high and sponsors are not canceling their spots because the station doesn't sound technically as good as it used to sound. They may have lost a few clients when certain talent was let go but KISS is still making money and spending less so why should they care?

The audio clip is spot on. It's not humor, IMO it's a joke (how they operate their stations).

Eager interns (or newcomers) cost less and are willing to do whatever to be affiliated with such stations. Sad to see the quality go downhill. :( Not just with Clear Channel.

So what is the "inside joke?" We need a good laugh :)

I have to agree that the audio quality isn't as good on Kiss 108 as it used to be.
