Christmas in Columbus 2019

Is it me or is this one of the longest in recent years that 93.3 WODC has stayed Classic Hits and not flipped to Christmas? Not even a hint of Christmas on their Facebook page or website. I know last year they didn’t flip until late but this year with Thanksgiving being the last week of Nov this could be one of their latest flips.

I'd say most but not all of the Christmas stations have now flipped. The December ratings period starts in a few days and most Christmas stations want to be in the format when that happens for maximum effect.

But some are sticking to the philosophy that you make the switch the Friday before Thanksgiving, even if Thanksgiving is late this year.

By the way, does WSNY also flip? I know for many years, it was a rare AC station that maintained its regular format in Nov. and Dec. with just some Xmas music sprinkled in. Which is why it is the Adult Hits station in Columbus, iHeart-owned WODC, that becomes the Christmas station in the market. I don't know of any other Adult Hits station that switches to Christmas music. But I thought WSNY had flipped last year, along with WODC?

The December PPM book started November 7 and is over on December 4th.

I don't know if it's still true, but at one time Clear Channel/iHeart would typically flip its lowest rated station. WODC has been Columbus' Christmas station through several format adjustments.

Yes but Sunny now waits till Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday to flip. They don't even do the "Christmas Music Weekends" that they did many years ago before 93.3 came to town.

and WODC sure hasn't been doing as well in the last few months.. SUNNY and QFM are beating them and in the most recent ratings WOSU-FM (NPR) edged ahead of them... I think it's time for them to rethink 93.3 The Bus.

The Brew's current playlist isn't helping The Bus either--too much crossover with these 2 stations. Personally, I'd suggest format 'wobbles' that have occurred with The Brew aren't helping The Brew either. They can't decide if it'll be an active rock station, classic rock station, or 90s rock station (classic rock & 90s heavy playlists will step on The Bus a lot). As someone who likes 90s-Now rock (not super obscure stuff or true alternative) Columbus isn't currently filling that void, and it seemed like The Brew was doing a good job filling it earlier this year until the most recent format tweak where classic rock was added back in.
