I will Be Travelling to Miami for The Holidays im Trying to Find out Which Stations Usually Play All Christmas in and Around Miami??

we had that about two years ago right before mega 1035 switched to 1035 the beat for about a month and a half it was all christmas music on 1035.
Last year nobody in miami went all christmas, about a few days before christmas 97.3 the coast and 101.5 lite fm played some music but that was it.
well see what happens this year no news yet

i think maybe a year before mega1035, last year they just went christmas a few days b4 the 25

Do any stations up in the wild West Palm Beach / Boca Raton radio market flip to 'All The Christmas All The Time' in December ? Actually I'm wondering the same thing about the cluster of stations that transmit from the Upper Florida Keys.

Sometimes it's hard to get the Navidad spirit aqui en El Sur de Florida en Diciembre when it's sunny, breezy, and a balmy 75 degrees outside. Christmas music on the radio would sure help out - at least for a week or so prior to that magical day.

I remember back during the 'PARTY-93.1' days (they seem so long ago) when even they would dust-off the trance and techno Christmas tracks such as "Carol Of The Bells" (DJ Demonixx) and "Winter Wonderland" (Minimalistix), and play them for much of the month of December.

Y-100 tends to play the traditional Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera Christmas pop tracks with an occasional classic "Feliz Navidad" (Jose Feliciano) thrown in for good measure during the week leading up to Christmas.

WFLC hasn't ever gone all-Christmas (except via the Delilah satellite feed at night). 103.5 stunted right before the flip from WMGE (the disco/dance "Mega 103.5") to WMIB. WLVE did it a couple years ago, with a Smooth Jazz flavor.

LITE FM traditionally (since 1994) stunts with all holiday music the day after Thanksgiving ... then backs off to two or three cuts an hour during most dayparts -- a little more in the evenings right before Christmas. Then it's LITE's 37th annual "Holiday Festival of Music" Christmas Eve at 12 noon through Christmas night at midnight.

Ho ho ho ...

Shaking things up a bit this year, Usually my parents come to Jacksonville but this time...we're all heading to South Florida - including the cat. LOL Nothing like the 'ol scan button in the car, I'm sure I'll be checking out what's on the radio. Streaming can't compare to hearing radio in the traditional way. I celebrated 17 years of holiday seasons in S. Fla and while many complain the weather doesn't make it seem like Christmas I always loved it.

Ever notice too that even if radio is bad in your opinion for whatever city you live in - it almost always seems better when you visit somewhere else?

Yes! I'm sure a lot of people feel that way. It's probably because we are tired of listening to the same exact stations with the same jocks, same playlist, and same presentation. It's refreshing to hear different radio when you're out of town.

Thanksgiving (Slightly) Up North

Remember back in the 'olden days when we actually had to turn the dial in either direction to scan the radio stations ? Those were the days ! When automobile manufacturers added the seek and scan buttons to our radios they took all of the fun out of it ! ::)

I'm preparing for a trip up to Orlando and Jacksonville for the Thanksgiving holidays, so I'm looking forward to hearing some great hit music radio stations up there such as my old friends 'FLZ', 'XL', and 'A1A' in Central Florida and 'APE' and 'KISS' in and around JAX.

The Major mentioned Y100. What I've noticed is that a lot of Top 40 stations mix in holiday music and sometimes even go all Christmas on Christmas Eve and Day.

I'm sure we'll also hear the occasional "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer" (Elmo & Patsy), and two classics from Bob Rivers & His Comedy Corporation that you have probably heard countless times before in Christmas seasons gone by - "The Twelve Pains Of Christmas" and "The Chimney Song". TOP 40 radio still embraces these songs during the holidays.

Growing up back in the Awesome '80s in the D.C. area our TOP 40 stations used to introduce the seasonal Christmas hits on Thanksgiving Day, and then add them into light rotation for the rest of November. Once we got into December they were thrown into active rotation, and then ultimately heavy rotation during the days leading up to Christmas Day. It was all over though on December 26th every year. As we stampeded back to the malls to return merchandise that we didn't want the Christmas songs had all but disappeared just like that from the radio. I could never figure that out considering that there are 12 days of Christmas.

So far the only all christmas station in S.FL is WEAT Sunny 104.3 out of west palm beach
http://www.sunny1043.com/

they cover miami pretty good from central west palm w' 100,000 watts

It seems that once you venture across the Palm Beach county line into Broward, the Palm Beach stations generally don't fare as well as the Miami stations do into Palm Beach. And so I would suspect that even with a Christmas format, WEAT will not be kicking butt in Broward/Dade.

Time will tell if WLYF missed an opportunity to go all Christmas. Lots of AC stations have seen audience decline and WLYF is no exception. But going all Christmas seems to be a natural for AC stations both in overall sound and the opportunity to draw attention to your station and attract new listeners.

While the Christmas tunes play, programmers can use that time to tweak their music libraries to help come out fighting come 12/26. Something lots of AC stations are finding necessary to do.

Where I live, the local AC went all Christmas and virtually everywhere I go, I hear the station. They are positioning themselves well for both the fall book and the new year.

WLYF is a major player in South Florida radio for many decades. But listeners don't care about yesterday's success - if they just go through the motions - the audience won't respond. I'll be giving them a listen while in S Fla in the next few weeks. Perhaps I should have waited until then to comment.

But then, I've had some requests to contribute more on the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale board and so this was my two-cents worth to help out during a slow period.... ;)

LITE FM is again offering an all-holiday-music option online (LiteMiami.com) -- and this year, for the first time, on WLYF's HD-2 channel. They're also including two or three holiday tunes per hour as part of their regular programming. I suspect that there's a specific reason behind this programming strategy.

I have several theories as to why the Miami stations do much better in the Palm Beaches than vice versa, but I'll save that potentially lengthy post for an all-new thread in here that's not titled 'Christmas In Miami??'. ::)

Once one loses the festive signal and holiday spirit of 'SUNNY-104.3' while driving southward away from The Palm Beaches it would be a good 4 to 5 hours before the holiday spirit were to be recaptured again on live terrestrial radio. Way down in Key West Clear Channel's A.C. 'KEY-93.5' has also gone all-Christmas. Unfortunately they have a rather local signal that's limited on land from Key West only to Marathon (and of course our ships at sea).
