Christmas in NEPA

Well, Lite 94.3 is picking up the Christmas version of the Deliliah program, so is this the start of all-Christmas radio in NEPA, or a mistuned satellite receiver?

Any other speculations? I doubt that Entercom is going to flip any station this year. Shamrock is pretty set as well. Guess the only other station would be Magic 93 later on.

WNAK always went with Christmas music right around Thanksgiving...won't be happening this year...

Yes, looks like WLNP is staying with Christmas.

WNAK can be "Radio de Navidad de nordestal Pennsylvania" this year.

What? No "Felice Navidad"?

I don't know how many posters here actually worked/work in radio, but would imagine the number is high. For those not involved in the biz, let me assure you that Christmas music was not really big with most of us who faced it year after year, especially when your station insisted on rolling it out the 1st of November. And even more especially when your PD insisted on a very tight Christmas playlist.

I worked for stations that pretty much allowed anything in terms of Christmas music, allowing jocks to pick and choose from piles of LPs and 45s. I also worked for stations that had maybe a dozen songs in their Christmas rotation, which was tolerable when you were playing one, maybe two Christmas songs an hour. But when you got to running non-stop around the clock, it became downright nauseating.

By the time I left the business, I'd had it with Christmas music.

Can you say "Grandma got run over by a reindeer"...knew ya could!!!!!!

Go into WalMart or Target or any other big retailer and they're just decking the halls from their audio systems.
Wegmans has Christmas items out and displayed before Halloween came to pass. So why shouldn't radio be right in the middle of it all? Happy PC Holidays to you all. Maybe we should just go back to celebrating the winter equinox.

Route 81 seems to have changed this format again.......at 8:54AM it was the new sound of continuous dead air.....hey guys......how about playing waves crashing on the beach or a continuous flushing toilet or something....ahhhh...they're back at 9AM with Feliz Nav ironically.....I'm already tired of Christmas Music.....ooooo.....time to break out the Red Peters Christmas CD.

Seems this discussion surfaced here once before, when one of our distinguished posters(a radio lifer in addition to his other job)verified that Christmas does indeed coincide with the ancient pagan ritual of celebrating a Solstice, and Easter coincides with an Equinox. This isn't by accident. Historically speaking, there is little proof that Jesus was born during the winter.

Someone help me here, please. Why all the fuss over what WNAK does? No one's been listening for a long, long time.

This morning John Tesh was joined in with Bob & Tom on the air. Whoops!

Bob and Tom had Emo Phillips on.....he was really funny. The first time I listened to this station for any length of time in quite a while.
