"Christmas in Poughkeepsie"

One of the local stations (this is so bad I won't mention who) played Van Ritshie's "Christmas in Poughkeepsie" yesterday. First off, I wonder if they know that Van works for a competing station with similar formats. Second; this song is so bad that it should be turned over to the feds for use as an interogation/ torture device. If you were trying to get information from a criminal, play this slug twice and he will break down immediately. Torture worse than electrical shock. Even the dogs were howling and coyotes running for cover. I saw a freight train take a dirt road yesterday when this came on the air. You know who you are that aired this nauseating act; please do not play it again...not sure the world can stand it....

HaHa glad you enjoyed it! ;D Believe it or not, alot of people liked it....Look, Van is a great guy and a terrific air talent. He did that song for a charity back in the 80's...nothing wrong with a local song once in a while on WEOK...Hey, WPDH plays "Poughkeepsie City of Sin" every labor day, and *that* is a true hokey song.

"c'mon it's campy"

Not so sure about that. I believe that for something to qualify as "campy," the performer has to be in on the joke; has to be wittingly involved in the parody and see the humor in it. For it to count as "camp" there should be some obvious tongue-in-cheek element and maybe even a sly wink or two invloved. Van, on the other hand, was dead serious and completely clueless.

This might be one of the funniest things I've ever read. Well done!
