Christmas Lite at 106.7 Lite FM

It is Christmas over at WLTW 106.7 Lite FM. So is this earlier then last year for WLTW? I don't remember. If it is earlier could it be because WNEW was rumored to go Christmas on Thanksgiving or the day after? Well now we will see who goes next will it be NEW. or PLJ.

I believe WLTW made the switch on Thanksgiving Eve last year.

I doubt WNEW would switch to all Christmas, but there were rumors started earlier this month. I thought they might since they had this thing on their website.

WPLJ MIGHT flip, but who knows. They did it last year, but I think it wasn't the best move, even though I preferred PLJ's presentation over WLTW. Did PLJ do very well last holiday season $$$ wise?
______________

I don't think WLTW-106.7 went all-Christmas until 2003, and then, just for a week or so prior to December 25th.

Last year, they flipped the day before Thanksgiving (as noted in this thread).

Next year, it probably will be earlier--maybe around November 1st. This year's early flips of WNIC detroit (November 1st) and WSNI Philadelphia (November 4th) may have been "tests" conducted by Christmas Channel (Clear Channel, WLTW's owners) to determine if in the future, those stations of theirs that do go all-Christmas can start that early.

Interestingly enough, Long Island's WALK (Clear Channel) has not switched to X-mas music yet, and while I am not an avid listener, I haven't caught word about when the holiday music will start on the air, nor on their website.

Does anyone remember when they switched last year?

Da, I am thinkings that nothing much different this year.
Detroit, Philidelskia, Phoenix and others always go early.
KOST always go Friday before day of Turkey.
Lite New Yorkski always wait until late.
Comrade Ryan resists the change, (wouldnt you if you
were abandoning #1 format for a few weeks)?

Over at www.walk975.com it does say they will be going Christmas on 11/25/05 which is this Friday. That date is when I also thought WLTW would of went Christmas also. Just makes sense for both AC stations to go Christmas at the same time I say.

I would think that the fact WLTW-106.7 went all-Christmas, and did so on November 18th, was probably dictated by Christmas Channel (Clear Channel) Corporate in San Antonio.

I don't think WLTW program director Jim Ryan had any say in whether or not his station would go all-Christmas.

Correct. PDs of these Clear Channel stations have no say in the matter. In fact, CC mandates that almost ALL of their medium and major market ACs and soft ACs go all-Christmas.
