Looks like Mix 102.9 will be the first FM to offer Christmas music - tune in tomorrow 11/15!

I hope the merchants are stocked up on asprin. Seems there wil lbe a run on them.

If you've ever worked for one of the clusters that participates in the Christmas music marathon, it's pretty funny to hear people brag about being the first to flip. Maybe they heard a rumor that the guy across the street was going to flip, and they beat him to it. Then they'll spread the story around the cluster like they've just stolen nuclear secrets from the Russians. And when you find yourself on the receiving end of the story, you really have to try hard to muster up an impressed expression on your face--just to be polite.

It's not unusual for today's clusters to have people bragging about this, bragging about that over bad programming. Rah Rah Rah! Go Team go!!!! How do you think bad talent keep their jobs today :D

It appears Old Gringo is getting into the Christmas spirit. Feliz Navidad my Brutha!

KVIL has flipped to Christmas music!

Well, it's the only way 103.7 can generate respectable ratings these days. A heritage station that runs itself like a souvenire shop in a mountain ski resort town.

Where is Ron Chapman when we need him.....?

On the S.S. Retirement in the Bahamas, enjoying the sweet life?

He saw radio becoming the "vast waste land" that Newton Minnow cited many years ago. He love doing "radio". It's not there anymore.

I HATE Christmas music 24/7 !! It makes me so mad that KVIL does this each year.

Reminds me of the time KZEW went to an all Christmas format. They never came back............... :(

I totally agree that launching a 24/7 holiday format before, or even too quickly after Thanksgiving is ridiculous. I presume advertises are calling the shots as to when stations start the format.

I believe the appropriate method should begin with sprinkling in a few selections the day after Thanksgiving, and increase the category(s) use as the weeks go by.

Robert is correct. 2 songs an hour starting the day after Christmas,a week later add one more. The week before have 4 an hour. 6pm Christmas eve go 12 hours solid then 4 an hour the rest of Christmas day.
