SummitMedia's "Star 99.5" WJMZ-HD3 is as well. Was channel-surfing and 93.7 WFBC HD-4 is currently all jolly music even as l type this from south Gastonia.
Yes. It's "magic," but they don't identify it that way. Other than the top of the hour. It's literally a music stream. That's itI think WFBC HD-4 is the Magic stream. I wish they would return Magic to a real radio frequency rather than stream only, since they switch 98.9 to WORD and sell 106.3 to the Spanish station.
Why do they even bother? Nobody is going all the way up to WFBC-HD4 and they don’t even promote it exists.Yes. It's "magic," but they don't identify it that way. Other than the top of the hour. It's literally a music stream. That's it
Amazing how that Christmas flip works for so many stations, especially in this climate of easily getting a stream or Christmas tunes or many specific Christmas stations of SiriusXM. (Me? I only listen to the "radio" in the car these days and it's typically not terrestrial radio anymore.)Man oh man I thought about this the other day when Magic 98.9 start Christmas music right on the dot. from 12:01 AM November 1st lol. One year they didn’t flip back until January 3rd because it fell on a Monday. 🤣
Successful radio operators program to people that listen to radio which is still a rather large percentage of the population. For decades their have been "unreachable" folks. In the 1960's and the 1970's they had tape decks in their cars. Then cars had CD players, now streaming. One the the good things about our country is you have the freedom to consume the entertainment that you can afford of your choice. Depending on the age of your car, the OTA radio is a lot easier to operate. Also, technically in some states there are hands free laws so if you aren't Bluetoothed* there could be an issue. My son "ran out of data" last month and was kicked back to something slower than dailup. Another factor is not every place in the USA has good enough cell coverage for glitch free streaming if you are more than 5 miles from a four lane highway.Amazing how that Christmas flip works for so many stations, especially in this climate of easily getting a stream or Christmas tunes or many specific Christmas stations of SiriusXM.
