Christmas Music Continues on K-104.7

It's the day after Christmas...Lite has resumed normal music programming, but "K" continues with Christmas music. Did "K" do this last year?

Look for changes shortly! Lots of activity all over the country with stations making huge shifts in programming and change! K104 has been looking of talent to work "on air" with basic 6 hour shifts. That does not sound like a music presentation to me?

I was missing Christmas music, but what I heard them play didn't appeal to me. I wanted more of the traditional stuff.

Instead I heard something awful by Dolly Parton and the dreaded "Sarajevo". You know, compared to "Sarajevo", I don't mind "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" one bit. At least that's good music and it's funny. After the WB animated special, I can just pretend they didn't KNOW she survived.

Regular format back...no change, I doubt there will be. Six hour airshift isn't a big deal anymore, takes about an hour to voice track it. Been there, done that, picked up a small paycheck.

NEXT!

No Mike, these will all be live 6 hour shifts minus evenings and overnights. Something is a brewin..be certain of that.

I agree with Holly. Why would they be looking for jocks to man a 6 hour shift? That is really old school radio and not Market #35 .. something is in the works and we'll find out soon.

Okay Holly well you should know, or are you just putting us on? :)

Just noticed that Holly Haze is missing from the K-104.7 website. Did I miss something?

Yes, that is do-able with voice tracking. When I was there we did regular voice tracking 7p-Mid and the Mid-6am shift was just the PSA/Promo break at :52 not really a VT shift after midnight.

Yeah, I know it's possible, but just seems a bit extreme. They can't even get 2 people to voicetrack a 12 hour span? Why not get something like John Tesh for late nights if they can't do that? I guess CBS doesn't VT from out of market. Just a bit extreme, especially in market #25.

One thing that K104 has been so odd about lately is shift times. I like it more along the lines of 6-10, 10-3, 3-7, 7-12, 12-6ish.

Nobody cares about midnight to 6 anymore. That's a shame because I found people who are awake and listening really pay attention to the radio during those hours. When I did that shift many years ago I was surprised by all the people either at work or those who couldn't sleep. They were all looking for a connection to the outside world. It was a great experience.

Two people to VT a 12 hour span? You must be some kind of radical! That would cost CBS $20 a day!

I was reminded tonight that a board op with just a little experience can make $9 an hour. If you have 30+ years experience and want to make some money part-time you can make $10 an hour!! ???

I don't think the average listener knows or cares about shift times. The corporation will do what's good for the corporation.
