Christmas Music in the Hudson Valley, Who Will Flip First?

Now it's the beginning of November, as MusicradioUSA was pointed out on the New York board, that KOSY is going all-Christmas this year. As of right now, I see no stations in Poughkeepsie is flipping to all Christmas this year, not yet! I remember last year when all three Lite-FM's like 92.1, 99.3 and 98.5 had gone all-Christmas. First, the one at 92.1 and 99.3 had gone all-Christmas last year and 98.5 had not flipped to all-Christmas, and then 98.5 had gone all-Christmas afterwards. Are they going to do it again this year as all three Lite-FM's going all-Christmas? Just keep in mind that "Mix 97.7" is expected to go all-Christmas later this month. Last year when "Mix 97.7" (was "Mix 97") had gone all-Christmas too early last summer for one weekend during the month of July when the station was promoted "Christmas in July". That was so silly, I'm not really sure if they did the same thing back in July, but who cares?

But what about 92.9? I don't see WBPM changing to all-Christmas anytime soon.

I wish that WBPM will stay oldies on 92.9 after the holidays if Pamal owns, will have new jocks coming in by the New Year. I like to see Rick McCaffery stay with the "Solid Gold Jukebox" on Friday nights, I don't like him when he was doing weekday morning show and then Rick Knight doing the midday shift and Tony Flash. I remember at one time when Rick Knight was playing "Tri-Fi Drums" which is Dan Ingram's outro, Rick's line was borrow from Allan Sniffen at the end of "Board Reflections" was plain silly. I hope Rick will go to Lite-FM with Claire Channel for a Saturday night dance show called "Studio 92/98/99" where they play rhythmic AC stuff like both WNEW's "Mix 102.7" and WKTU did in New York City. As for Tony Flash, I don't know. As for evenings on "Cool 92.9", I hear Truckin' Tom Kent hosting a show called "Into the 70's" and the next day, "Hall of Fame Coast to Coast". I remember when the old "Cool 94.3" used to have "Hall of Fame Coast to Coast" with Tom Kent on Saturday mornings right before the flipped to country as "Kicks" (now "The Wolf") in 2003. Tom Kent can also be heard on both WBPM in Saugerties and WTRY in Albany. Both stations are running Tom Kent shows "Into the 70's" and "Hall of Fame Coast to Coast". That is a total waste. But what about on weekends, Dick Bartley hosting "American Gold" on Sunday mornings. I remember when he hosted "Rock & Roll Greatest Hits" on WHUD when they dropped it last year, but I'm not sure if "Cool 92.9" will stick with the syndicated Dick Bartley show. I'm not sure if the schedule is going to change after the holidays if Clear Channel is out of the way. I checked the website that "Cool 92.9" is still owned by Clear Channel. I don't know if Clear Channel is going to stay if Pamal owns. Will see!

The Bone.

Why not.

They may get to a 1.0 with all x-mas music.

Two stations with identical formats serving two different markets. How is that a waste? Apples & oranges argument...

Nobody in Albany is listening to Cool.... nobody in Kingston is listening to 'TRY. You can figure out the rest.

BTW: Tom Kent's show is also aired on WUPE in the Berkshires. That a waste too? I think not... it's a great show (albeit with frequent repeats).

Lite FM running Delilah's Christmas feed

Lite FM is running Delilah's Christmas feed. I guess they'll be all Christmas each night for the next few weeks.

Just as a side note, 99.3 Lite FM is set to go all-Christmas in 18 days, while 92.1 and 98.5 both say 17 days on the site. Why not make them all go at the same time?

I wouldn't be surprised if Mix 97.7 flips to all Christmas at some point.

Last night they had the all Christmas version of John Tesh and this morning when I tuned in, they were mixing holiday music along with the regular format.

Only if Benfer is looking for an excuse to get rid of Limardi. Wasn't that his flimsy excuse for getting rid of Turner last year?

Yeah, pretty much.

The Christmas format on Mix 97 wasn't even Turner's idea in the first place.

It's a long story.

Mix 97.7 got rid of Randy Turner last year, but now he is with Pamal. I guess that Randy Turner should end up on 92.9 to do mornings if Rick McCaffery will no longer doing mornings, but he will be doing the "Solid Gold Jukebox" every Friday night in Pamal will own WBPM.

Randy is the production director for Pamal.

According to this week's NERW, WKLI, and WTRY in Albany has already flipped to an all-Christmas station, WKLI's "Magic 100.9" is the only station to go all-Christmas this year with the exception of the holiday JAM jingles made by CBS-FM could be use for "Magic 100.9" where the "Do It Again" jingle package is still there. WTRY is already went all-Christmas this year except for Tom Kent where he host his syndicated "Into the 70's" and "Hall of Fame Coast to Coast" shows (which is still being heard on WBPM's "Cool 92.9" every night) playing non-Christmas music.

WKBE in Glens Falls also went all-Christmas this year. Those are the three stations that are flipping to all-Christmas in Albany and Glens Falls.

Christmas Music in the Hudson Valley

Thanks for the alert. I am listening to Magic 100.9 online now as I can not get their signal and they sound very well put together. One of the best "All Christmas" presentations I have heard. Good music mix and imaging. Very solid and tight.
