Christmas Music in the Hudson Valley

As of now, WKXP’s “Lite-FM” is gone all-Christmas as of today. No word on what WRNQ’s “Q92” is going all-Christmas, and also WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5/920” has no official word on what they are going all-Christmas as of this month. Stay tuned.

As of right now, WRNQ’s “Q21” went all-Christmas competing with WKXP’s “Lite-FM”, and up in Albany, WTRY’s “98.3 TRY” already went all-Christmas as well. Now you got three stations going after them. No word on what WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5” should go all-Christmas yet. Stay tuned for more of the Christmas music battle. Here is a rundown on what stations going all-Christmas.

WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” goes all-Christmas on December 17th and continues all the way through Christmas Day.

WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” goes all-Christmas starting 12PM Christmas Eve and continues through 12AM Christmas Day including three Christmas Old Time Radio shows including two from the “Lux Radio Theater” including “Miracle on 34th Street” and “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and “A Christmas Carol” with Orson Welles as heard on the “Mercury Theater of the Air”.

More to come.

Just to give you an update, not in the Hudson Valley, down in New York City, WLTW’s “Lite-FM” at 106.7 finally went all-Christmas. I have the aircheck of the full two hours of Christmas music on “Lite-FM” that I will be posting it later today. Here is a clip of the launch of Christmas music on WLTW’s “Lite-FM” from Friday afternoon at 5PM. Enjoy while you can.

Another update: This past Friday, WHUD finally went all-Christmas. Now you got a total of 4 Christmas stations.

First, you got WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3, and the WRNQ’s “Q92”, and then WTRY’s “98.3 TRY”, and finally, you now got WHUD. Those are the four stations playing Christmas music, and they’re all over the place.

And just to let you know that WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5” is playing two or three Christmas song per hour, but it has not going all-Christmas yet. WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” is going all-Christmas starting at 12PM Christmas Eve for two days, and then WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” goes all-Christmas starting Friday December 17th through Christmas Day.

Stay tuned for more.

Just to give you an update, WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” in Albany has finally switched to all-Christmas as of midnight last night, and continues right up until Christmas Day this Saturday at midnight. Last week, “Magic 590/100.5” never played any Christmas music all week since they had to take a little break to play regular music while the other stations like WYSB’s “B 95.5” and WTRY’s “98.3 TRY” was still running all-Christmas.

We’ve just covered all of the stations in the Hudson Valley and Albany has gone all-Christmas. WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3 went first, and then WRNQ’s “Q92”, WTRY’s “98.3 TRY”, WYSB’s “B 95.5”, WLTW’s “Lite-FM” at 106.7 in MYC, and WHUD, and that was a month ago. And now, they are going after station after station after station. We shall see when WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” goes all-Christmas this Friday afternoon at 12PM Christmas Eve and runs until 12AM Christmas Night on Sunday running the 36 Hours of Christmas”. WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5/920” will be next.

As of this morning, WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5/920” is the first station to go all-Christmas, beginning with Jim Brickman’s radio special “The Gift of Christmas”. This is the first time that WGHQ goes all-Christmas, and then later, WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies” goes all-Christmas beginning at 12PM running through tomorrow night, Christmas night including three classic radio broadcasts of “Miracle on 34th Street”, “It’s A Wonderful Life” both from the “Lux Radio Theater”, and “A Christmas Carol” as heard on the “Mercury Theater of the Air” produced by Orson Welles with Lionel Barrymore and Ebenezer Scrooge, and it’s going to be all-Christmas music for 30 hours. And finally, WBPM goes all-Christmas as of 6AM this morning, the same time that WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5/920” also went all-Christmas and runs right into tomorrow, along with the “Celebration of the Season” show with Randy Turnip as the host with nothing but novelty Christmas songs.

Now we covered all of the Christmas formats that I just updated. During the past two months, every station went all-Christmas including WKXP’s “Lite-FM” at 94.3, WRNQ’s “Q92”, WHUD, WGNY-FM’s “Fox Oldies”, WBPM, and WGHQ’s new “Magic 92.5/920” in the Hudson Valley, along with WYJB’s “B95.5”, WTRY’s “98.3 TRY”, and WROW’s “Magic 590/100.5” in Albany, NY, and of course WLTW’s “Lite-FM” at 106.7 in NYC where it has been running all-Christmas since November 19th. And guess what, we just completed the all-Christmas, and it is going to be a race to see how long is going are the station running Christmas music going to last. Are they’re going to win the battle? Find out soon.

Now that Christmas is over, and all of the stations went back to regular programming as of December 26th, except, WGHQ’s “Magic 92.5” and WHUD was still playing Christmas music the day after Christmas, and then, it went back to regular programming as of December 27th.
