I was wondering since I did not have XM last year. Do any channels switch to Christmas music early in the season, lets say late October early November. The old Sunny 104.5 in Philly used to flip early and they played a wide variety of Classic, Standard, Oldies, Instrumentals from the 50's and 60's. I did not notice a Sounds of the Season channel like Music Choice or DMX has. Does any of the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's, Country or R&B channels go Christmas early or is there a full time Christmas Channel...

I did not have XM last year either! My dad got my XM subscription as my Christmas present last year and I
LOVE IT!!!! I'm also wandering which channel will play the Holiday music this year, so I can listen to this great music!!!!

I have had XM for about 4 years now, during the last 4 years they have started the the X-MAS music in Nov. and they have always had at least 4 stations playing X-MAS music, they use to have a station called special X they played funny X-Mas music, and one of the Country stations played the country stuff, one of the Classical stations played more of the main stream X-mas music and I think the 40's station along with the classic dance channel played holiday music as well. Im not a big fan of holiday music so I may be wrong. But I know in the past XM has played alot more Holiday music than Sirius, I also have Sirius and they only flip one of there channels.

If you are fans of Christmas music, I think you will be pleased with XM's offerings. Last year's channels provided a wide array of holiday favorites from classic pop sounds to today's artists. also there was a channel devoted to classical holiday music. they usually announced their channel lineup in early november with a start date of the day after thanksgiving. fyi

Thanks for the help good people, I am a big fan of Christmas Classics, mostly the Standards, Instumentals, Country and Pop, everything from Karla Bonoff, the hippo song, Burl Ives, Steamroller, Dean, Bing, Frank, Ella, Ventures, Grogan(sp). I was introduced to many of these gems by Sunny 104.5 in Philly last year. But we all know what happened to that great station. Will XM announce and advertise the channel numbers and channel names when it gets close, also, do they add a new channel for non-stop Classic Christmas music....Thanks again...

i want xm to do a soulful x-mas channel

WDAS in philly did that on the weekends

jeeze, you rhythmic lovers never give up, you have enough of that on the dial, to satisfy your one-sided taste. Do you want every station in the country to flip to some sort of rhythmic/urban style to make you happy.

you are a radio message board Hasbenn :'(

Go find a new hobby

What is a Hasbenn, does it have to do with benn-FM-95.7, ha ha. Looking at all your posts, they tell the same, sad story, we need another Urban format here, there and Dance this and R&B that, give it a break already. I have an idea, you thirst to play your kind of sound, start WPRT up again, so I can shut it down, like I did 10 years ago.

Have to agree with the dude. Way too much x-mas music as it is. Surprised no one has gone to all X-mas already.

I just checked their website and didn't see anything about it yet. Kittendaddy was just wondering the same thing earlier this week, so I was glad to see this question addressed. Our favorite channel is Fine Tuning, but so far we haven't heard any announcements regarding Christmas music.

As long as Special Xmas returns, I'm good. Where else can you hear Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Jim Nabors, and selections from "Punk Rock Xmas"? Can only take so much of the usual Nat King Cole/Carpenters/Mathis/Celine Dion ad infinitum.

I've listened to Special XMas on occasion when I'm in the mood for something a little off the wall, but even for more mainstream stuff, XM is much better than our local FM outlets. Sunny 95 and 93.3 FM out of Columbus repeat the same songs every three or four hours. Reminds me why I hardly listen to terrestrial radio anymore.

XM said on their radio promos yesterday that they will start Thanksgiving Day at Midnight. There will be 5 channels and they are also planning on similcasting them in the low 100s like they did last year.

Don't forget Escape will be playing their b/ez Christmas Music Christmas Eve thru Christmas Day.They will be going all Christmas starting Christmas Eve so the number of holiday channels will jump from 5-6 Christmas Eve.

Holly already started up tonight at midnight. Too early for me. BTW, for those who like the Heart and miss it during the Christmas season, they don't appear to be simulcasting at this point
