Christmas Music Pays Off Big for Star 94

IMHO if they are committed to 96.1 + Urban, they are going to have to take it live and local from 6AM till at least midnight with high dollar talent that makes appearances at local night clubs, parades, festivals etc and knows how to work social media in the station's favor. In other words love the Urban Life in Atlanta.

IMHO If iHeart is committed to Urban on 96.1 they are going to have to $pend some $erious money for a local air staff between at least 6AM and Midnight. The staff should have appearances at local night clubs, festivals, sporting events, and parades in their contract. Someone should be responsible for an unique play list totally aimed at Atlanta.

Because there still are several active recording studios in Atlanta here's a free slogan (or branding), just give me credit:

Atlanta's Hip Hop* for Atlanta on Ninety Six One Atlanta's Hip Hop* Station for every locally recorded track they play.

*If it a rap or R&B song use Rap or R&B instead.
Actually, 96.1 THE BEAT is actively in public at local events and sporting games more than any of the competitors in the last year. Since the pandemic, the Urban stations have little to no nightclub presence here in ATL. At one point, you could hear all the Urbans and even Q99.7 broadcasting live from nightclubs on weekends. Mornings and Middays will have no chance of going local since The Breakfast Club and Way Up with Angela Ye are owned and syndicated to all of their Urban stations on the East. West coast is the only exception. The music is tailored for Atlanta especially afternoons and evenings. They do tend to play more R&B and throwbacks though to keep competition with V103 vs that of 94.5 and 107.9. Hip-Hop radio nationwide has trended down while Urban AC seems to be doing okay. The young folks have Apple Music, Tik Tok and other music apps.

(Coughs) I said this before that people were listening to STREETZ 94.5 more than what Neilsen shows respectfully. Of course, many of those listeners don’t have a PPM device.
The fact that many listeners don’t have a PPM device does not suggest that a station has more listeners than Nielsen shows. The people who do have meters are based on proven statistical benchmarks and are representative of the entire population.

In a agency controlled market revenue wise, ONLY the PPM folks count. As far as the majority of the ad buyers (who could be just about anywhere in just Atlanta) are concerned, STREETZ did have more listeners.

IMHO bad sampling would hurt V103 too. A really bad book for 96.1. Also we don't see the money demos.

The Beat’s “newness factor” on 96.1 seems to be wearing off…or to have already worn off.

105.3 reached The Beat’s core demographic just fine.
IMO there was nothing "new" or fresh about 96.1 the Beat. They need to make a new logo that kind represents something local. It's bland and corporate.

I would really hate to be responsible for iHeart Atlanta's P & L. Your two best signals are "underperforming" 6+. The Bull is almost being beaten 2 to 1 by 101.5 and 96.1 is the #6 Urban signal if you count Praise 102.
