Christmas Music & Pirates in Lubbock

I flipped to Stars 97.3 today and it looks like they have officially flipped to all Christmas.

NOW for the pirates that are taking over Lubbock (does Mike Leach have something to do with this?)

THE XM RADIO PIRATE:

Off and on (usually I hear it on Sundays), I still hear the pirate on 98.9 in Northwest Lubbock that simulcasts a station off of XM Radio (I know its NOT KLYD out of Snyder that i'm hearing). I have talked about this pirate in the past on this message board.

ANOTHER PIRATE THAT HAS BEEN AROUND FOR AWHILE:

I had a thread about a pirate on 95.1 awhile ago. That pirate has been active for I think over a year now. The range is a lot further too then when it was when I first brought it up on here. I can hear it pretty clearly in a couple spots on the Tech campus. Before, it didn't even reach the Tech campus.

THE NEW PIRATE:

Last night, I was cruising around downtown and my radio stopped on 104.1. The range for 104.1 did NOT go nearly as far as 95.1. Either way, 104.1 is broadcasting the same thing as 95.1. Must be a pirate operating two stations. To me, it sounds like an iPod on shuffle or something. 95.1 and 104.1 can be heard pretty clearly around Buddy Holly Ave.

Not a very smart pirate for putting a station on 104.1, NEXT to 104.3.

Has anyone else heard these pirates?

Hey eggsovereasy, that loss to OU had to sting big time!!! (Friendly College Football trashtalk to anyone who doesn't know)

Kinda strange, why would anyone put up a pirate simulcasting XM? What XM channel are they broadcasting?

That loss to OU did hurt! But I'm still proud of my Red Raiders regardless and hope we can bounce back. Norman is a tough place to play. At least we can beat real teams (like UT)! :D

Now back on topic:

Well, since XM and Sirius merged, I'm not sure, since some of the channel line up has changed.

I didn't hear the pirate this weekend. But, I'm sure it will be back on next Sunday. The pirate just kind of broadcasts off and on. Sunday is when I usually hear it but I have also heard it during the week a couple times.

But, before the merge, they broadcasted XM Flight 26 on 98.9.

HELL! I want to work for a PIRATE RADIO STATION! At this point, I will work ANYWHERE!

Would they pay me in dubloons?

Happy Thanksgiving...

We beat UT two years in a row now, but I think this year will be harder. They are mad, and they are in a National Title hunt. It would be nice to throw them down the rankings and ruin any chance of the BCS championship, but that will be hard.
Too bad Graham Harrell is a Senior (along with the Off Line). If Tech wanted a Ntnl Champ., this was their only chance to do it. I heard rumors of Crabtree looking to the NFL.

Anyways, any idea of an exact location for the 95.1 pirate?

I have no clue on where it is located. Somewhere downtown I guess. The signal seems strongest from the depot district to just a little bit past I-27.

What is up with all the pirates around Lubbock lately?

I picked up the pirate @104.1 on my car radio while driving at I-27 & Broadway. Once I got to the 34th Street exit, it quickly disappeared. They were playing The Waitresses "Christmas Wrapping".

I think their signal (broadcasting the same thing) on 95.1 travels much further.

But my question is, when there are more open frequencies in the area, why 104.1 when Hot is on 104.3?

Crazy pirates :-\
