CHRISTMAS MUSIC PPMS

3WS moves up to #2 for the month, WSHH also did well (#4).

BOB-FM and LTJ both went up by being the alternatives, although LTJ is last among the full-market commercial signals on FM.

DVE took the biggest drop in total share (-1.1) but 104.7 and Y108 took the biggest hits percentage wise. CBS played no holiday formats and only The Fan was up this book in their cluster.

Also a good month for the X with the Pens in full swing.

KDKA dips to 6th, with folks going to the Christmas FM's. And this book also proves that this market could use a true oldies station. Add up all the stations doing some kind of oldies. People are searching for it, and 3WS isn't giving it to them.

Don't know what their revenue is, but 3WS has never had better ratings or lower overhead. Should be a pretty nice picture for them.

I'm sure 3WS is doing better in the desired demo, and you're right about the overhead. Any dissatisfaction with
3WS comes from the diehard Oldies listeners, and because so many of them are 55+, 3WS is no longer targeting
them. So you've got about a four share listening to the stations in the suburbs - some of which play (like 3WS)
70s songs that don't fit a traditional Oldies format, and many of which don't have a very good Allegheny County
signal. I'd guess there are quite a few frustrated 60-year-olds unable to find "their" Oldies on the radio.

Tampa has WDUV and WRBQ on the nominated list for best oldies. Why can't Pittsburgh support a WDUV on FM. I bet if Q flipped to this, it would improve a lot and this format can include old school R&B too.

WDUV is #1 in total persons in the Tampa ratings and somewhere around 14th in billing because the demos are so old. They are around #10 25-54 women. LTJ is already doing better than that in their target demo, so there's no upside to it.

The only way I could see that happening is if a bigger operator bought the Frogs, broke them apart, and used on to siphon older demos away from KD to help another of their stations pass KD in the ratings.
