Two days before Turkey Day.

How about nobody and never.. Seriously.. If Magic AND EZ decide to be stupid again this year (but they will) and go all christmas for eternity, there is no other AC station. WWDL, of course, is history..that was the only saving grace when it came to AC music last year. Magic and EZ shouldn't do it. It is pointless, it gets old, and more offices would probably rather stick with AC format. I know many people who hated Magic and EZ for doing it last year.

Please, Entercom, Citadel, others.... Don't.

Sunny 104.5 is only playing that music online... I live north of Scranton where I get this station well. They are playing their regular format. They will probably not flip to Christmas until Nov 12.

Well let's see Otis G!...How about 92.1 WQFM.."The Christmas Station" and to think my sources said different.I guess we'll call Santa "Little Saint Jack"!

You can get Sunny 105 from Philly up here? I get Sunny 105 from Hawley.
Anyway to the question at hand...by the looks of an ad in todays times, Oldies 92 is is now Christmas??????????? From the rumor mungers I heard from, it was gonna be a bad version of Jack. Well, I guess my sources don't know "Jack."

Sunny 104.5 in Phila always starts X-mas super early, at least the last couple of years so no surprise here.

As far as NEPA my money's on EZ and Magic. One will go probably within the next 2 weeks to one up the other, then the other will switch within days. As ridiculous as it sounds I know people who can't wait for all Christmas. I personally can do without until after Thanksgiving, then have it gradually added to the playlist. That was one thing WWDL did a good job at. They started around Thanksgiving and gradually started mixing it in until Christmas. By the week of Christmas almost every song would be X-mas, which is more than sufficient. I can even live with all Christmas at night.

If EZ were smart they might get some ratings by resisting the urge to go all Christmas and stay AC/Christmas during the day and letting Magic take the plunge. Your solid MAGIC listeners might actually switch to avoid all the X-mas and maybe, just maybe stay with EZ after Christmas.

RESIST! RESIST!

Big ad in the Times~Tribune this morning. It's now called "The Christmas Station."

Re: WQFM

First off, this idiotic stunt just proves that this market really sucks.

Second, I'd like to issue a challenge to all the other stations in the market to go Christmas. Seriously.. go for it. That would make for an interesting winter book. See who gets the best ratings for the execution of Christmas format.

"Didn't you wonder why stations don't play Christmas music until after Thansgiving?" ----------------- UH... NOOO!

Seriously, none of the national services have even started with Christmas music yet. Shamrock, Entercom, (and I'm sure tomorrow) Citadel.......grow up!

Because I have to speak to what's available, why is Sham-rock only advertising the station as 92.1 everywhere (except the small mention at the bottom of the website), yet it is also available on 100.1?

Let's see, Magic's numbers jump in the third trend of the fall book every year do ya think the Christmas music might have something to do with it?

Tell every national chain store (eg KMart, Walmart et al) not to put their Christmas stuff out until after Thanksgiving.

Why is it Froggy 101 when they're on two frequencies? Why is it 98.5 KRZ when they're on two frequencies? Why is it the WILK network when they're on 3 frequencies? It's called branding. One name, one dominant frequency is enough. KISS.

Re: WQFM

Mr. Shark Dog brings up some good points.

I'm a little confused that someone on this board would take it so personally to "challenge" other stations and post so many angry comments, if this is your biggest problem, you're having a pretty good day.

Re: WQFM

Yep, I am bitter and angry and have nothing better to do all day than to post angry comments and challenges to other stations and provoking argument on an Internet website.

(since I can't state that it is the truth) In my opinion, NEPA is really getting ripped off when it comes to radio. If there aren't three or four stations in the market doing the same thing, then it doesn't work. There are several formats that can work in this market, but will never be touched, because we need another country station, or we need another classic rock type station.

But, my argument is that stations who drop their format, that has been established, for Christmas music hurts the station, because "if" it is too early, and they don't like it, they are going to tune out, and forget to tune back. (in the case of doing it too early)

There, no angry comments or challenges, just opinion.

It's yet to be established when "too early" is. Personal preference would be closer to Thanksgiving. But if either of these two stations have a better than expected fall book because of it...then it wasn't too early.

BTW--NE PA isn't the only place to get a Christmas station. KOSY in Salt Lake City flipped also....a year ago..they also flipped on 11/1...and ended up with a killer fall book...

Because maybe, JUST MAYBE The powers that be at Shamrock have finally realized they can have 2 STATIONS with 2 FORMATS with the coverage areas they have! GOD LETS HOPE SO !

100.1 can still be paired with the 100.5 translator for penetration into most of the market, while 92.1 runs independantly.

IF & this is a big IF - but IF it happens, Shamrock should get a golden star.

2 stations maybe better ratings?
