Christmas Music

So it gets earlier every year.

Anybody see any forecast of when some stations will go "all Christmas" this year?

I know they go "head-to-head" in some markets and start the festivities in October!

It seems like a lot of Indiana markets opt out of going to wall-to-wall Christmas music early (before Thanksgiving) and not very many AC stations seem to flip to an all Christmas format at all and stay the course with regular programming with a Christmas tune thrown into rotation here and there.

You have to go to cities just out of state (such as Chicago, Cincinnati, and Dayton) to catch stations rolling with an all Christmas format before Thanksgiving.

ZPL will be the first to go all Christmas music this year. Then expect a new format on Dec. 26th. The last book pretty much sealed the deal on that one.

;) ?

Why are you so assured ZPL is going to go all Christmas, I Still predict that the Song will be first on the block in Indy to go all christmas since they do it annually since coming on the air a couple years ago. and who says ZPL is flipping formats just cuz the drop just a smiggen in the book. they are actually up from where they were a year earlier if you look at the 12+ ratings a little bit better and they didnt change formats then. Smiley in the morning is what is carrying the station. and if ZPL ever does change formats or dumps Smiley. If i was Emmis id fire the crap that is the morning mess and put Smiley on in its Place. Smiley is like one of the top 6 morning shows in ratings in indianapolis behind Bob and Tom and WIBC for sure since B&T and IBC have Heritage Morning Show. You cant tell me Russ Parr or Tom Joyner over on the Radio One stations have Better ratings than smiley.

The only station in South Bend to go all X-mas every year is Cat Country 99.9....they ususally start a week or 2 before thanksgiving.

Any AC station running Delilah will most likely pick up the all X-mas version of her show which I think starts on 11/6.

I forgot about Cat Country up in South Bend doing all Christmas...good catch.

And you're right, Quackattack, AMP did have an all Christmas station up there when AMP South Bend was running 1580 then 1620 then 1580 as Radio Hollywood. The format was thanks, at least at one time, to Westwood One's (now Dial-Global's) Adult Standards format, however. If AMP continues the Christmas tradition, the music will more than likely land on WWLV, Love Songs 1620. I highly doubt they'll touch U93 or the ZOWs.
