Christmas Music

Is KSOS 90.5 going to go all Christmas music this year again? KSNE has owned that position in Vegas for a long time, but do you think competition would give them a challenge? KSOS did really well in the summer book and with PPM anything is possible. I'd love to see any station give CC a run for their money!

It's the Christian music station on 90.5. They call it SOS Radio

90.5 is KILA. They are the anchor for the SOS Christian radio network with stations all over the west. Transmitter is on Black Mt. Henderson with a translator on ???freq towards pahrump located on Mt. Potosi at the communications site.

I noticed that KOAS had an ad about going all Christmas in today's RJ. What is intersting is that they are not playing the smooth jazz Christmas tunes. They are playing the standard AC mix of Christmas songs. Could a format change for KOAS come in the new year?

I noticed KOAS Christmas TV spots all weekend, too...on ABC 13 and NBC 3 along with the ad in the main section of the litter box liner.

The music mix is very good and clean. I called one of my co workers to see what they knew, and they were shocked that KOAS flipped Friday at 5 and KSNE flipped Saturday afternoon.

Element of surprise? HUGE mistake?

That's what I was thinking too, especially considering how poorly Smooth Jazz does with PPM.

Yeah smooth jazz doesn't seem to do well in PPM, and AC is as strong as ever. KSNE has the top cume in town, so it wouldn't be a bad strategy for Oasis to go after them. We all know CC has cut most marketing and research, so there is a big opportunity for Oasis to make an impact if they spend enough marketing $$$ this month.
