And, in the event something new comes along, give it a year or two and every artist has to cover it. Then there is "Grandma got ran over by a Raindeer", heard it every year since 1900 it seams, hate it as much as I did the first time I heard it. Christmas YES. Christmas Music "BAH HUMBUG"
Since only one or two stations go all-out all-Christmas for two months, of course they are going to get a "bump" from the relatively small number of people out there who just can't get enough of Christmas muzak. If more stations went all-Christmas (and thankfully, they don't!), any supposed "bump" would be spread out among more stations. Aside from that, mix 92.9 is #1 pretty much the rest of the year, so any "bump" is actually unnecessary for them. :techguy1975 said:As long as the stations that do flip receive the nice ratings bump they always do...the answer is, no...Don78 said:At the risk of sounding like a scrooge, can't we skip it this year. Can't argue with anything that you posted here, except that "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" is my all-time least fave "Christmas" song, primarily due to EXTREME overkill! Add to that that two of my least favorite singers, Amy Grant and Leann Rimes, have recorded unnecessary covers of that awful song!Don78 said:At the risk of sounding like a scrooge, can't we skip it this year. The last couple of years, 94 the Fish has beaten Mix 92.9 to the punch by going All-Christmas a day or two earlier than than Mix 92.9. In 2010, they went All Christmas on November 10 and Mix didn't switch until a day or two later. A year or so earlier, I went to Knoxville for the weekend and when I left on Friday, neither station was playing Christmas music, but when I got back into town on Sunday afternoon, both stations had gone All Christmas.techguy1975 said:Mix 92.9...My guess is the 16th.
I saw a billboard for 96.3 Jack-FM yesterday afternoon in Downtown Nashville stating that Jack-FM was now playing All Pilgrim Music during the month of November. It's odd that one of South Central Communication's stations taking a jab at another one of their stations.
Mix 92.9 and 96.3 Jack-FM are both owned by South Central Communications out of Evansville, IN. Both stations are consistantly ranked in the Top 5 radio stations in Nashville whenever the new rating books come out (Mix 92.9 usually rated #1 and Jack-FM usually around 3 or 4). Mix 92.9, along with 94 the Fish, usually goes to an All Christmas Music format around the middle of November. Therefore, 96.3 Jack-FM is poking fun at Mix 92.9 going All Christmas by stating they will be going All Pilgrim Music during November.TruThdeTecTor said:I saw a billboard for 96.3 Jack-FM yesterday afternoon in Downtown Nashville stating that Jack-FM was now playing All Pilgrim Music during the month of November. Maybe I'm missing something. Where's the jab?
