Christmas Music

Its obviously a stunt with a format shift coming (you would think)
But I read where Albuquerque NM has a station (Santa 100.9) playing non-stop Christmas music, as of Labor Day.
Four full months of Christmas music.
Are clients buying Christmas music now?
Do listeners WANT Christmas music in September? Its still 90 degrees.
What about flipping to their new format on Thanksgiving? (when others go all Christmas)
Thoughts?
Answers?
Explanations?

If I had my choice between listening to Christmas music or listening to Yoko Ono's entire music catalog backwards at 78 RPM between now and December 25th, I would go for Yoko Ono hands down! Call me a Scrooge, but starting Christmas music THIS early and being subject to it day in and day out would turn me off of Christmas period.

I have seen Halloween movies start popping up on some of the satellite TV networks already and one network is running commercials saying they will start Christmas movies on November 9th on TV. I guess radio won't be out done to start the holiday season early this year. I will be glad when the weather finally cools off.

I guess it's me. K-Mart is running a Christmas/layaway ad, more than 100 days out, and some smaller stuff is popping up on store shelves.

Only Andy Williams' "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" should be played now. And it was used on one chain's back-to-school commercials as parents celebrated.

I keep hearing Christmas music even this time of year because movies I watch sometimes have Christmas included.
