Christmas on 106.7 HD2 (Sorry if this is a double-post)

I found out this past season that Magic 106.7's HD2 programs Christmas all year. My head filled up with questions...

1. Is there any indication that people listen to it when it's not Christmastime?
2. Since it's on all year, I assume they have more freedom to experiment. Is the library a bit more open than the typical ~200 titles that stations program during the Christmas season? I mean, they're not actually playing the Wham song 6x a day all year long, right?

Here's what Wikipedia says:

In November 2014, WMJX-HD2 switched to all-Christmas music. The exception is when the main channel is playing Christmas music between mid-November and December 25, when the HD2 channel carries the primary adult contemporary format.

I used Wham as an example because it was playing on the station while I was writing that original post. I did listen a bit longer and there seemed to be a few titles that I'm not used to hearing on the radio. (In your example, "Sending You a Little Christmas" by Johnny Mathis would seem to fit into that category. I love Christmas music and I don't think I've ever even heard that song!)

With the HD2 Stations for Entercom and IHeart, it's all about their apps. Getting as many uniquely formatted 'Radio.com' and 'IHeart' stations on as possible. In this particular case, Entercom's Magic FM in Boston, and IHeart's Sunny FM in Colorado Springs are the keepers of year-round Christmas Music their respective app.
