Christmas Programming

Began airing a few Christmas songs this week; gradually add more in, becoming all-Christmas around Dec. 23.

I have some special programs that will air Christmas Eve and Christmas Day that are Christian in nature but
primarily are still music-oriented.

We went wall-to-wall xmas as of noon today with an eclectic mix (country, straight up jazz/smooth jazz, big band/swing, pop, rock & traditional). We will play some public domain OTR closer to xmas.

On AM 1620 Raise Radio we are mixing Christmas music over the next weeks.
Then we will broadcast OTR Christmas programs then all all Christmas music
at 12 noon dec 24 until dec 25 at 6 pm.

AM1610 in San Antonio. I may be overdoing it a little, but have traditional Celtic holiday music on from 12:05pm - 4:05pm daily as of Thanksgiving Day. On weekends I also run assorted Christmas music from 9:00pm - 11:00pm. I will run a 24 hour assortment beginning the 24th and ending in the wee hours of the morning on the 26th. I was wondering where P-R is obtaining the eclectic holiday music. I am looking for that sort of thing to air along with traditional Christmas music.

Planning on not playing but maybe two songs per hour on xmas eve. I think stations go way overboard when Christmas comes. I really dont care for the holiday, so for those like me, they will be happy. I think Christmas is overblown, and it generally stinks. Basic regular programming for Lilburn's community radio.

Unless you live someplace where there isn't a wall-to-wall christmas station already I wouldn't do it. On the internet playing all christmas music will make your listener numbers tank.

AM 1620 Praise Radio has had a change of plans for Christmas programming.
No wall to wall Christmas music Dec 24 - Dec 25, a station in the area went wall to wall
Christmas today. We however will run Christmas OTR shows Christmas Eve.

I think that's the best way to go, we have a network-wide special Christmas program that is run on those days and it is very popular!

I haven't started any Christmas music yet for a few reasons. One, I don't have a huge amount of the stuff to begin with, and (how's this for "way overboard," lilburn radio?): one of the full-power FMs here has already gone, as you say, "wall-to-wall Christmas," to the point where Santa suits are mandatory dress for all full-time staff until COB Monday, December 24th, and their EAS test databursts have been replaced by jingle bells. Only Santa hats for the weekenders, though. A bit ridiculous, wouldn't you agree?

But back to KAPM AM 1670 and 95.7 FM...I'll probably start with a Christmas song or two an hour over this next week in an attempt to keep burnout at bay, then increase gradually as "the Day" approaches, but as for "wall-to-wall," are you kidding? I don't have enough Christmas music for a bathroom throw rug, let alone "wall-to-wall."
