Now that many stations around the country have gone all-Christmas, tell us what Christmas songs bug you.

Mine are Merry Christmas Darling, Christmas Shoes, and Last Christmas

All 3 of those are among my favorites.

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town and any pop/hip hop version of Christmas songs I don't like.

*NSYNC, Britney, Jessica, Run DMC - Christmas In The Hollis, etc<P ID="signature">______________

"Christmas Shoes", "I'm Gettin' Nothing For Christmas", and "Santa Baby" make me want to stick a fork in my eye.

New Years songs that they insist on throwing in with Christmas songs.

"Jingle Bells" by "The Singing Dogs" has got to be the most annoying and obnoxius Christmas season song ever, and one that gets the most played on practically all formats.

"Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer". PLEASE GOD MAKE IT STOP

Agreed -- most are terrible. The worst of the bunch was Bruce Springsteen's awful cover of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town", which feels like it goes on forever.

ANY version of My Favorite Things. Other than possibly one ot two lines concerning Winter or snow, it really has nothing to do with Christmas.

Bah, humbug! Did the Grinch crawl up your trouser-leg? They're ALL wonderful! I can't hear "Grandma Got Run Over", "Feliz Navidad" or "White Christmas" enough! I wish they'd play them ALL year long!

"Pretty Paper/Pretty Ribbons" makes me so verklempt. "Walkin' Round In Women's Underwear" is hilarious...even after hearing it for the sixtieth time in a week!

What's wrong with you? Have you no Christmas spirit? You must be one of those ACLU members...one of those Godless Communists...or, one of those >>gasp<< filthy liberals who's trying to take the "X" out of Xmas! Shame! Repent now before you burn in the fires of Hell!

(Disclaimer: Since the Bush administration can now read our e-mails and internet postings under the Homeland Security Act...does this now make up for my anti-Dubya posts of the last five years, guys? Thanks! )

Count me among those who hate Newsong's "Christmas Shoes".

Yet I hear it's one of the highest-testing Christmas songs among "soccer moms", the prime demographic for Adult Contemporary formats (many of which go all-Christmas each year). Supposedely, it's the most-requested Christmas song on Delilah's syndicated show!

I don't like it because it's too depressing. I only wish someone could rewrite the lyrics to provide a happy ending. Then maybe I'd like the song.

Christmas is supposed to be the most joyous time of the year. Songs like
"Christmas Shoes" make one sad at what should be a time of happy celebration.

The only thing worse than Newsong's "Christmas Shoes" is the Christmas Shoes movie. It was on CBS last year. Way too corny.

I'm a Christmas music junkie!
Last year we had three radio stations in our town playing all Christmas music during December. I was in Radio Heaven. Let the Christmas music begin! I'm ready!

"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" amd "Jingle Bell Rock" make me run sreaming from the room. They are beyond vapid.

Speaking of Christmas songs that leave you with a depressed feeling, I cringe everytime I hear "Mary Chrismas Darling" by The Carpentors. (Hopefully I have the somg title right). Given a choice of hearing that song or haveing a pitchfork stuck in my head, I'll take the pitchfork.

That would be "Merry Christmas Darling" by The Carpenters. You had the title right, but the spelling was a bit off. No points deducted, because the rest of the post is right on. Can I borrow the pitchfork when you're done?

Peace. And Happy New Year, too.

Re: Christmas Songs I Do Like

I think Greg Lake said it best with his line:

"Hallelujah Noel, be it heaven or hell, the Christmas we get we deserve".

(from "I Believe In Father Christmas", released in 1975)
