Recently we had discussed the "last Chris Glenn Roundup(s)"
as airing this coming Friday 02/24/06, however I just came
across a story on Billboard Radio Monitor (link below)
stating he will retire on Thursday 02/23.

If true, here's hoping you'll all be ready to record a day
earlier than previously expected: Roundups at 8am/10am ET
and the hourlies at 11am/12pm/1pm ET if he sticks with his
usual on-air schedule.

Just wired up the starguide to the other production room. Closing it down for christopher glenn recording day.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Christopher Glenn Retirement -a couple thoughts

It makes me feel old when the guy I considered "The Young Guy" at CBS News is old enough to retire. I remember him doing "In the News" durring the Saturday morning cartoons. I must of been about 9 or 10.
He was interviewed on WHAM in Rochester this morning. He said when he got out of the Army in 1963 and went job hunting for a radio job. He interviewed at WHAM. He went thru the whole thing meeting the news director, P. D. and G.M. I guess he thought he got the job -but he didn't. So he ended up at CBS instead.

I just heard the whole 10 minutes (no commercial breaks) of the very last west coast round-up on KODL (just discovered the stream late last night - much better than KNX's which is interrupted by traffic).

What a great sign off and what a great tribute by Charles Osgood.

Does anybody have final audio to post? Did he do his other midday 'casts or was the roundup it?

West Coast round up was it.

Steve Kathan anchored the 9AM PT/Noon ET newscast.

CBS Evening News on Glenn

Schieffer did a nice tribute to Chris on the Evening News tonight, with some video of his farewell and a clip from "In The News."

(And if you're on the west coast and read this in time, check out the end of the newscast, also, for a really nice Steve Hartmann piece from right here in my hometown.)
