CHRs in Alaska

How come there are only two CHRs in Alaska and none in other smaller/medium cities? Juneau doesn't have a Top 40 station either. Why don't they put the stations from Anchorage and Fairbanks on simulcasts or have the same branding on different frequencies in different cities but have seperate DJs?

Alaska may be the biggest state in the union, but population-wise it's one of the smallest. In fact, close to half of Alaska's population lives in the metro Anchorage area (about 360,000). Add another 100,000 in metro Fairbanks

If you look at some of the provinces in nearby Canada you'll also notice that CHR radio is mainly limited to the bigger cities. In Manitoba, for example, you've got Hot 103 in Winnipeg, and there's Star 94.7 in Brandon. That's it. Over in Saskatchewan you've got a couple of CHRs in Saskatoon and that's pretty much it. Even Regina doesnt have a CHR. In Alberta there's CHRs in the big cities of Edmonton and Calgary, as well as in a couple of other cities (Lethbridge, Red Deer). There are some cities where repeaters are widespread, such as the ski tourist town of Banff

Back in the US, Nevada is another state where Top 40 can only be found in the state's two primary markets - Vegas and Reno.
